It's been a long time, but I have some fun news.

I will be releasing all the DCG plug-ins I have rights to as open source. I am still working through the open source license and hosting decision, but as a first step, there is a beta for the no purchase or serial number required version of the plug-ins. The Carrara SDK files are supposed to be available at CarraraCafe.

Up to a week ago, there were youtube tutorials for the Carrara SDK, offline now...

And OSX versions are now available along with updated Windows downloads to include DCG Importer.

So sorry to see you go, your plugins are such great addition to Carrara. I have used, and abused Ground Control a lot!! It's amazing, I have used it to import DEM's created from Lidar for several years, something that Isn't that easy in other software because I create huge DEM's (I can finally do it in Vue Complete). Thanks so much for your support over the years, you will be greatly missed!!

I would like to know where to get DEM files of Australian locations, the ones I have are made using NASA's LIDAR from the government are all image files mostly tiff, some too big to open with Carrara or anything else, google just keeps redirecting me to those.

oh I lie, many in ESRI or GIS form too which requires that dreadfully expensive software

I Samuel has started some resources for the SDK. Says there is intent for more. Fingers crossed.

And source is now available at https://github.com/ewinemiller/dcg under the LGPL 3.0 license.
