Subject: Incredibly confused about how to "install" the Texture Transformer V2 UG?

Lyne ( ) posted Sat, 08 September 2018 at 2:01 PM · edited Sat, 18 January 2025 at 1:33 PM

Don't know where to post this.... Poser forum search does NOT help... the readme is NOT helpful in the zip... am I to install V2 OVER V1? I have a new key.... tried to use it...keep getting the "run" window in my win7 to install....er run? even after putting in my key and it said registration was successful. But all the files in the data folders FOR my Dusk and Dawn are NOT in the upgrade folder zips... those just have the one file named .pack

I just gave up...can't use the fancy new version until I understand where and HOW to "install" it...The readme simply says to put the folders in the data folder...nothing on HOW TO INSTALL THIS "UPGRADE" ?

sorry I'm so dense?

PS I have NO idea what to do with it. and the V2.exe still asks for a cr2!? So how does it do ALL the textures of a skin set? I'm lost!

well like a dog with a bone.... I kept stumbling about trying to figure it out...and apparently it IS converting...once I figured out what to point it TO... it creates a folder called MyConversion both in the runtime-poses and in runtime-Textures...I opened one of the body maps in photoshop and there were NO demo words on it, so I GUESS it's working!?

I'll convert all the items in each folder (eyes lips, etc.) and then try them on Dawn...of course there will be NO real SSS nodes so I'll have to start with my own Dawn skin character that already has SSS in/on it, and manually substitute the maps... then save THAT as a new mc6.... so...

Hmmm but obviously, I'll have to move the files to another folder...or a sub folder with the character's name on it....so that when I start a whole new one, and it tosses the maps into the original MyConversion folder, those won't get all mixed up?! Could be quite confusing when trying to apply the right png textures for a given character... (now I'm confusing myself) :/

Still a LOT of work...but maybe I'm on the right track?!

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: You can move this thread to a more proper forum if you need to...like maybe the Poser forum itself? I have no idea...the TT forum makes no sense to me (it's posts) so that's why I came "here".

I think the new TT data files have an extension of .TTPack. At least the ones for Blacksmith 3D do. I don't have TT, but do have Blacksmith 3D and yes, the way the conversion works with it is you load a cr2 that has the material you want to convert. In other words you need to apply the materials in poser and then save that file as cr2, and load that up in the convertor. As far as where the conversion are saved, can't really help there, as in Blacksmith 3D, it asks where you wish to save them at. I would think TT has some option, possibly, as where to save them.

Consider me insane if you wish, but is your reality any better?
