Subject: Seeking short hair, not strand

operaguy ( ) posted Sun, 14 October 2018 at 3:20 PM · edited Wed, 04 December 2024 at 4:25 PM

I have 3Dream's shorty hair with viktoria's kick-up but I seek more..

Like that of Agnieszka Uścińska in this image. Not the color, that can be changed...but the style and cut. Preferably a prop with morphs.

By the way, her performance of "Summer" from The Four Seasons by Vivaldi is terrific. Click below for the link: Click to see/hear on YouTube

Closest I see in my library is Sassy Classy Hair by Studio11 right here in the RMP adjusting the size of the bangs.

Looking in the RMP with 3Dreams MSC product, you have the Madame Hair or the Dinasty Hair addons There is also the Leandro hair by Mairy and 3Dream.

Aren't the MSC product add-ons simply static, with no morphs? I'll check out Sassy Classy. Thanks

Why not strand?

Echo Hair

Promo image 5 shows a morph that is very similar to your photo.

Hi Biscuits. Yes, you are right about that image 5 for Echo. I also see the black hair on image 7 in your Juno hair. Two questions ...

  1. why do you advise subdividing at final for "smooth" results?
  2. what is "RGB Hair Salon?"

I have tried for years to work with strand hair, to no avail, especially with animation.

Oooh, animation that is a different ballgame indeed!

Yes always smooth the hair otherwise you get sharp angles, which aren’t realistic looking especially with curly styles.

Rgb salon is an addon with haircolor options, that work on all my hairs.

Take a look at Tequila hair over at DAZ. If you want a little more volume then check out Pyrit hair

I'm working with Juno Hair by Biscuits. I like the morphs, they get my close to my goal, although with a part. I like the side part okay.

When rendering this image, I subdivided the hair model by 3. It made the render time (semi-final, SSS turned off and no indirect lighting) go from 5 minutes to 11, neither of which are a worry. Naturally, being nuts, I tried to render with the hair subdivided by 8 on my Core i5 8500, 8 gig Ram. Poser crashed. No problem.

Oh! i never go higher then subd 2!

Even 1 is fine!

Because each subdivision multiplies all polygons by 4. So be careful with that.

Looking good operaguy!

Biscuits, aside from color, would RGB Hair Salon give me more morphs, adjusting, and control?

Biscuits ( ) posted Wed, 17 October 2018 at 1:12 AM

The RGB stands for Red, Green and Blue, it’s purely a color texture addon. :)

@operaguy .. Hair Salon No1, No2, No3, Hair Salon Accessories, & Hair Salon Unseelie are all extra hair pieces and props. The RGB series are just texture expansions for biscuits various hairs. Though very nice texture expansions IMHO.

Consider me insane if you wish, but is your reality any better?

bantha ( ) posted Thu, 18 October 2018 at 12:41 AM

When using subdivision, each level divides each poly to four polys.

so, if you have a model with 4000 polygons,

SubD 1: 16,000 polygons SubD 2: 64,000 polygons SubD 3: 256,000 polygons SubD 4: 1,024,000 polygons SubD 8 :more than 260 million polygons.

Usually going up to 2 is enough, 3 is plenty. More is rarely needed.
