Subject: Make Retrieving Purchased Items easier? Please.

Instead of having to go to"Pull Down" then "account" then "purchases", then "search purchases", then "choose most likely of searched purchases from list that comes up" then "repeat" if first or second try was wrong, I would like to be able to simply hit the "Purchased" button on an item that I have already purchased and have it take me directly to the order where it was purchased and available for dowload. The button does nothing otherwise right now and making it active would make retrieving some items much easier.

There IS such an option and MORE! :)

Once you go to your account page, you see all your order one below each other. If you click on the + sign next to each order number you will be able to see the content of that order plus the download links. OR...

If you hit the second option at the top of your account page that says "Purchases" you will see the orders but the + sign besides the content of each order and links will also allow you to preview the thumb of each purchased product as well. OR...

If you want all your purchased product one after the other with links to downlad at side.. you hit the third account option called "Items List"..

Finally... if you put only ONE word on the search field of your account page.. i.e. "hair" all your purchases that include that word will show up (links to download always at their side) You don't need the entire title of the product or accuracy to find what you need!

If you get a bit more familiar with your account page, you'll realize that your options are very extensive to select the one you like the most! :)

There are also options to search by vendor once you go to the Items List and see ALL the products you've purchased from the specific vendor... I forgot to mention that!

I'm certain there are more things you can do at your account page that I just can't recall on the fly! :)

Thank you, renapd. A lot of information. Knowing to hit the + for thumbnails is just something I hadn't tried, so it will be very helpful in the future. It would be nice, however, if I could see the thumbs for more than just one order at a time. Or can I?

Part of my point, however, was to AVOID having to slog to the Account page once I was at the item I purchased and wanted to download.

There are some items where I purchased an add-on texture before I bought the base, simply because I knew I wanted the item, but didn't need it right away. In such cases I don't download the add-on until I have both. So from the base I go to related items, see if I have one of them from a good sale or bogo or grab bag or something, then I have to go to acaccounts then the rigamarole of finding it for download. If I could click on the "Purchased" button while I'm already at the item it probably saves me a good five minutes.

The accounts page is still two or three or four steps after I already was at the item .

That would require a lot of code taking under consideration there are thousands of products in the store and thousands of purchasers too. A simple mistake might create endless problems! :)

However.. here' one more hint that I bet you haven't noticed... do you know that at ONE GLANCE.. without opening the product pages.. you can tell which products you have bought and which ones not from any vendor's store? :)

Just go to the vendor's store.. and notice the green cart icon below the product thumb... if it's bright green - you haven't bought the product.. if it's faded green (like a darker overlay put over it) you already own the item! :)

Have fun! :)

That's usually the first thing I look for, though I find the color of the cart, white for not purchased, and grey for purchased, easier to see than the shade of green of the button itself.

the overlay that goes over is grey.. that's what makes the cart and the whole button change color! :)

I figured as much when I read your earlier post, I just found the white to grey change more noticeable. In any case, it's a good way to see if you already have a product, without having to check each and every product page individually. 😉

Quick question... I didn't run into this problem yet but I'm afraid I might: What happens if I buy a gift for an artist and this artist previously purchased that item?

Ohhh, now there's something I've never thought of. Good question.

Let's find out! No, I'm kidding but I know you're just dying to buy me a gift. =)

I'm pretty sure... I mean I hope it's set up to issue a gift certificate to the recipient. It would make a lot of sense.

Maybe I'm not adequately articulating what I mean. When I have purchased an item, in the vendor's store I can see that the cart is a slightly different color. If I want to download that item what do I have to do? It's a lot of work from that point.

Instead, what I'm asking is to be able to then click on the item, go to it, then just click on the big green button that say's "Purchased." That button doesn't currently do anything at all, but it can be enabled such that it immediately takes me to my account purchases and the line where I can then download it.

Otherwise it's about a half a dozen clicks and decisions before I get to the product via the account page and purchases subset. Three to four minutes typically.

How do I do that? Search purchases by vendor? I just tried it because a couple of things by 3D-Age are on the frozen sale. When I type in (or copy directly) a search "3D-Age" my purchases search says : "Sorry. No purchase history could be found for your account."

3D-Age has a lot of products with similar names and I wanted to review which ones I've already purchased.

Sorry to seem to be a pain.

All it takes is two clicks. Click on the circled text.

Interesting discussion.

I, too didn't know about hitting the plus sign to bring up thumbnails.

T-Kidd, you also showed me something I didn't know, but it looks like your method only shows items in alphabetical order by product title. I immediately gave it a try and was hopeful that it would do more.

From what I can see it brings up a list that can be many pages long, depending upon how long one has been a member of Renderosity, and the list is in Alphabetical order by the name of the item. And each page has to be clicked separately. I tried clicking on the headers to see if they would re-arrange by vendor, as in spreadsheets, which would be helpful in many, many (did I mention many) cases, but you can't change the order.

There is no way, that I can see, to search purchased items by vendor to see what you've already bought from a particular artist.

Miss B ( ) posted Wed, 14 November 2018 at 8:33 PM

Actually 3dstories, there's an area on the Item List page over on the right where you can "Search by Vendor" (see above screenshot). You can type in the name of the vendor you're looking for, or click the little down facing arrow next to that field, but that list too will be alphabetical, so if you're looking for a vendor who's Nick/Alias starts with a letter in the second half of the alphabet, you'll be scrolling for a while.

I usually just type in the vendor's name I'm looking for, and then I get a list of just the products of that vendor.

Thanks, Miss B. It works, quite well actually, (except maybe for the ability to sort by order, etc). And I noticed, too, that when you go from items you've purchased, IF a vendor is not on the search list it is bacuse you haven't purchased anything from that vendor, which is helpful. That is, it is not a list of all Renderosity's vendor's only the ones you've bought artwork from.

Miss B ( ) posted Fri, 16 November 2018 at 6:01 PM

EXACTLY!! It's a helpful feature for sure. I use it all the time.
