I can not post a direct link to this since it is a product for sale but Packt has released a new Blender Quick Start Guide for version 2.8 think at 10 bucks it is a steal

Oh, I have an account over at Packt, but haven't gotten anything there since last year. Hmmmm, this looks very interesting Lobo, thanks for pointing it out, as that's a very good price compared to what Amazon is asking for it.

OK, I grabbed it, and downloaded it onto my tablet in Kindle Reader format. THEN I accessed the email from here, and downloaded the PDF format in case I want to view it from my laptop. Now I'm going to have to find the time to check it out. 😉

😁 I thought at the very least it would have some good starter info and to get familiar with 2.8 and cqan read on my Kindle device and laptop as well sometimes the written word for me registers more and sinks in better

Oh absolutely. There have been video tutorials that I've enjoyed, but for the most part I prefer to read a section, and then play with what I read about. I find it annoying to stop a video, do what I want in the software, and then have to backup a little in the video to make sure I don't miss anything when I continue. With the written word it's easy enough to stop, and pick up at the right, point more easily.

You've got your finger precisely on the pulse of what I prefer in PDFs over video, Miss B. Don't get me wrong: video has its place, but for oldies like me, the pace of a video either leaves me gritting my "please-get-on-with-it-already" teeth or waving the "whoa-Nelly" hands at the screen as even freeze-framing in VLC can't seem to show the key-combination long enough during some bright spark's demonstration.

Probably just me, though.

Looks like I'm going to need to head over to Packt and get this: 2.8 looks quite... um... different. Again.

VLC has speed control! Load your video, open Playback -> Speed. You have faster/slower and faster/slower fine options. The base buttons increase/decrease by +-.5x, fine is +-.1x.

I have a lot of the previous Packt Blender books. Top notch! But Packt sometimes packages the same books 2 or 3 different ways and it's easy to accidentally buy repeats. Since I bought them on a $5 sale and have bought stuff for $3.50/title, it worked out. But repeats 😑

OK RobynsVeil and Torquinox, what is VLC? Is that an eBook reader? I have the Kindle Reader on my tablet (not a Kindle tablet), so not familiar with any other eBook readers.

VLC is a video and media player. https://www.videolan.org/vlc/

OK, now I really feel stupid!! I just went to bookmark the link you gave me, and it turns out I already had the home page of their site bookmarked. I must've had that bookmarked for a long time, and didn't remember it. ~sheesh~

No matter. Happens to all of us. I've been using that program forever. I recommend it.

I was wondering if they had the Kindle app for a PC, but I doubt I'd use my laptop to read a book. I just wouldn't be comfortable enough to "relax and read", if you now what I mean. 😉
