Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
Am having an issue with Mojave and have raised a ticket with SmithMicro that they keep "Resolving" but the issue is not resolved...
The render previews are in weird sequence, meaning that they are pretty useless. I have to try and search through 100 to find tha last one I did, if i can remember.
Does anyone have a fix for this?
Smith Micro have told me that they are not addressing the issue and that I should roll back my OS to the previous version...
They said that there is an update due in the next few weeks but that Mojave is not supported and they are not going to fix this simple issue.
With updates to Poser only once a year, they are effectively telling me to roll back my OS for a year.
I am unhappy. I really do love Poser, but this issue means I have to manually save every render (Good or bad) in order to compare them, or even find them.
If anyone has an idea of how to resolve this from the OS, I'd be very grateful!
Just left this message with Smith Micro support: Can you confirm that this has been raised with Smith Micro as a bug and please.
If they don't know about it, they wont fix it...
It's never too late to fix an urgent, low risk bug.
Please confirm that this has been formally raised as a bug with Smith Micro
The problem is not with Poser. It is with Apple's OS. This "bug" is not limited to SM software. Many other companies are having similar responses to similar complaints. Bug Apple for a fix. I wish you luck. The OS is trying to limit writes and reorganization so as to extend the life of solid state drives which currently do not survive the massive number of rewrites to the media that older spinner drives do. Software now has to do what the OS used to do. Software companies around the planet have to rewrite for Apple products yet again. It is not a simple "bug fix"
On the Poser forum this morning. Straight from the horse's mouth as the expression goes:
To clear the air.... Here is the statement about Mojave Support and Poser 11/Poser Pro 11
Poser 11/Poser Pro 11 officially do not support Mojave. The Project Team is currently looking at issues due to the new Operating System. There are no details as to when Poser will support Mojave at this time.
When a customer asks me what they are suppose to do when they need a feature that is not working in the unsupported Operating System, my suggestion was to roll back their system to an Operating System that supports the application. A user needs to first make sure their system meets the system requirements.
I know the 11.1.1 Update does not address this specific issue, because it appears it is a change in how Apple handles default sorting of files.
I will add, contacting Support to update the circumstances will not speed up the solution, but may actually slow the resolution.
Most users contacted me about whether Poser, Moho, MotionArtist, Rebelle, etc... are supported on Mojave. Once they had that information, they made their decision on whether to upgrade.
UPDATE ... Have discovered another 'outoforder' effect. I have all runtimes on an external drive, and only the Poser11Content on the iMac drive. When I open the Poser11Content library the items shown are in random order; for example the cat pose set - as listed - goes: pose 9, 8, 3, 2, 1, 5, 4,6 and 7. This does not happen when I open a library that is on the external drive.
So ... We are told to put the Poser11 content on the main drive (in 'Shared') where Poser 11 resides, Or is it possible to put it on the external drive - what effect would this have?

Does Poser run in Apple's new Mohave OS? I have Poser Pro 2014 and Poser 11 Pro (i.e., 2016) both on my hard drive. Currently, I'm running Apple's Sierra (10.12.6) OS. Is anyone running Mohave, and does either version of Poser (2014 or 2016) run on Mohave? Hopefully, both do.
