Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 20 11:41 am)
All versions of Poser 11 activate the same way. It activates automatically when you enter your serial number. You can activate it on up to 3 computers, and every 3 months you can deactivate it on any computers it was activated on, to enable yourself to activate it on a different machine, which is useful for when you reset your computer or when you get a new computer.
As to the differences between the Pro and regular versions, although I have the pro version I'm not sure what the differences are, other than the fact that the Pro version has the fitting room (to make clothes from one figure fit on another figure.
And, from what I understand, yes, there will be a male counterpart to La Femme.

Somewhere on the SM site there is a feature comparison list that shows the differences between the standard and pro versions. It should be on the main Poser product page but I'm not having luck finding it. If I do I'll post the link. The fitting room is one of them, along with various content creation features that the standard version doesn't have access to. Personally I'd suggest getting the pro version even if you don't think you will use all the features right now, you will probably want the ability to adapt some of your older content to the newer figures at some point. But if you're just coming back to Poser maybe the standard version is your best bet until you get up to speed with all the changes. If you're familiar with 9 or 10, then there's not a whole lot of apparent changes but if you're coming from something older like 8 or 7, then it will definitely be a new environment to get used to.
And yes there is a new male figure coming. ;-)
ETA: Here's the info on Collada in Poser Pro: https://my.smithmicro.com/poser-collada.html
It's in reference to Poser 10 vs Poser 2014 (pro) but the same should apply to Poser 11/11 Pro.

Hi, i don't want to deactivate it every 3 months. i want it to stay permanently activated on a non-internet connected desktop. I bought an 8 core pc dedicated to rendering. I will never connect it to the internet. the online reactivation gimmick has kept me away from poser for the last few years.
i just need to know if i buy the retail box version, i can permanently activate the software on an offline desktop.
Thanks!! -Misty

There is also a simple method to permanently activate your Poser 11. I travel a great deal and never have an assured internet connection, so I permanently activated my copy 2 years ago and have never had a problem.
**Hi. THanks!!
How did you permanently activate your Poser? did you do it without an internet connection??**

You have to go online just long enough to permanently activate then you can use Poser on a disconnected device. Just long enough to activate.
The process is right on the SM website where you register. https://pgportal.smithmicro.com/#!/product-licenses
I think you can activate without going on line with the machine that you want to activate. You will need to have another computer that goes on line you have to create a file on the first machine copy to the second machine upload that to SM get a response and transfer it from the second machine back to the first one. Hope that helps.

You don't have to deactivate it every three months (or ever for that matter). What I meant was that if you want to take it off one computer and put it on another you can deactivate it, but you can only do that once every 3 months.
Once you activate it, it stays activated.

i'm seeing the new La Femme figure. is a new male figure on the way? Homme?
seriously looking at poser 11. but i scared of the re-activation gimmick. Does poser 11 in the retail box come with the activation code? is it good for forever?
weighing the pro version. what feature does the pro 11 version have? do both come with collada export?
Thanks!
is a new poser version on the horizon? how long has it been since 11 came out?
