has anyone found a way to use carrara, reliably with new versions of poser and daz genesis characters?

sure, you can import them, but from my experience, that is all

genesis yes. features like geografts take extra work, hd waitin on the plugin.

poser has their own weightmap system, poser offers collada export, but lose the weightmap.

carrara can import a skeleton to a poser figure saved to carrara. needs someone who loves us to set up skeleton

I've been away a bit and also interested in this topic. I heard there were a few discussion threads about this here and in Daz3D forums but I haven't had a chance to find them. I heard you may have to now include DS (and maybe Poser) in your workflow to make importable figures into Carrara - which sucks. But that might just be the price you have to pay if you want to use the newer stuff. I'm definitely still interested, but I have so many V4 props and assets now I haven't done much with it LOL! Maybe somebody familiar with these other threads can post some links to them here.

v4 isn't a problem with carrara..at least for me.....

the easiest way i have figured out how to work with the 3..because of new ways models are done..is in daz studio, create a genesis character, and save it..then open the saved figure in carrara..so you get the morphs and shaders you want

for poser..the newer versions, ..export figure as collada..then add it to carrara scene

but really...it's a shame..how the companies had to screw things up, ..when they had everything playing together very well

like they just couldn't stand not having people complain

yeah, she is in my cart, i didn't know it was free, if i bought something else over 3.00$..until i tried to check out, and it refused to give me a download link

I hate it when vendors are not upfront with advertising - I am looking for a new figure and FREE base would have been perfect to try out in Carrara but that sneaky $3.50 minimum purchase annoys me !! Grrrr So ooo --- maybe someone can tell me if there is any chance of creating lipsync on this character in Carrara or even in Poser. I have no idea what its file structure is. I imagine she would have to be exported from Poser first ?

La femme base is free, but you really need to get the not-so-free HD morph pack to really have a modern character. https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/femme-fatale-hd-morphs/134938 that should solve your 3.5$ problem... Please tell us if anything works in Carrara.
