Anyone know what has happened to Xurge3D?

Not sure. I wanted to re-download a couple of things I got from him and when I went to the URL his site was gone.

WOW, I just checked, and it is gone. He had a lot of great stuff for all characters.

And I received a newsletter just March 3rd announcing a special sales until the 10th.

Miss B ( ) posted Sun, 10 March 2019 at 10:45 PM

Oh, I wonder if he accidently neglected to pay his hosting fees, and therefore might be back.

Could be. He was still announcing holiday sales in the past.

Unless it is simply a payment oversight this is very bad news. The more competition in the marketplaces for Poser content the better for customers, and if Xurge3D has gone that is a huge loss. I have many of his products and they are among the very best items in my Poser library.

Must be an oversight. Nothing on his Twitter about it.

Has anybody got a way of directly asking him what's happening? I would really like to know for sure and I bet I am not the only one. If I had an email address I would ask myself but I don't.

SeanMartin ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2019 at 10:25 AM

He never responds to email. Never. Love his products, but his sense of customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

If you want to give it a shot, it's xurge@xurge3d.com. Maybe he'll answer you. I get crickets.

Any email address linked to the site is unlikely to be working if the account is suspended. If I had an email address that wasn't I would send a message, but I don't have such a thing.

SeanMartin ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2019 at 12:38 PM

Yeah, true. I suppose one could ask at his Twitter, but again I doubt he'll respond. I'll give that a shot. If I get any response, I'll let everyone know.

The site is back up! That's very good news as it deserves to remain successful. I got a newsletter and experimentally clicked on the link in the header, and surprise, the site came up with no problems.

Miss B ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2019 at 2:50 PM

YES!!! I have his site bookmarked, so that's how I checked, and yes it's back up, and good to go.

I suspect my initial thought was the issue, and I'm glad he got whatever it was straightened out. 😉

I'm wondering if he moved it. I'm getting a lot of broken image links.

Maybe he has moved to different hosting. It can take a while for your ISP's own cache system and Domain Name Server to catch up with the new IP address. I don't use my ISP's DNS I use OpenDNS because it is so much faster and less prone to such problems. It is particularly good at avoiding cache problems caused by sites changing their hosting. I don't gain from anyone switching to OpenDNS but I do recommend it. It is free to use the basic OpenDNS service.

fireangel ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2019 at 3:12 PM

Oh, and if you're getting broken image links you can try clearing your browser cache of course, that can occasionally cause problems if a site has moved hosting. In theory it should not make any difference but occasionally it does.

SeanMartin ( ) posted Mon, 11 March 2019 at 3:14 PM

Cache is cleared, still getting broken image links. I'll try it again later on.

It could be he has changed hosting and your ISP's cache is still looking for the images at the old IP address. It will catch up eventually.

Whew. Back up!

RubyTuesday70 ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2019 at 4:33 AM

I get broken images when I go to his site from my desktop but I have a feeling it's because I haven't updated Chrome in ages, when I go to his site from my iPad everything is fine.

Miss B ( ) posted Thu, 14 March 2019 at 12:38 PM

I'm not having a problem viewing images on his site, but that could be because I clear out my browser cache every night before logging off.

Some good-looking stuff there, and no problems with pictures.
