I get the same on my Win 10 system. Poser still seems to work OK ?

Not really a programmer, but the problem intrigued me, so I looked it up on Google:

Under: "XML parsing error not well formed"

There were a number of answers. Check them out.

I have this problem with Windows 10 as well. Poser seems to work just fine, so I've ignored it. For years. :-)

Some people have fixed it by deleting their preferences file, but that didn't work for me. I got the error on a brand-new, fresh installation on a new computer.

My guess is that some script that loads when Poser is started throws up this error because Poser isn't yet fully initialized when it runs. Some coders deal with this by building in a delay before their scripts start, but it sounds like it's basically a cosmetic issue. Poser and its scripts will work fine once Poser is done loading.

Thank you; will do.

Poser uses xml files to store configuration information.
To see the location of these files
Open python shell -> Scripts->Python Shell
Run the command print poser.PrefsLocation()
If you open in explorer the displayed folder there are a number of files ending xml.
In theory if you right click over each and select your favourite browser to open it, if text is displayed without error the xml file is ok
My guess the problem is with LibraryPrefs.xml which doesn't display ok. You could test this by renaming the file and seeing if the error message dissappears
Why LibraryPrefs.xml doesn't load ok only Smith Micro knows...

It's intermittent, and annoying when it happens. Which really seems to be too often on my system!

It's very possible that Poser is trying to access a file that's in a folder that is hidden, system only. You could probably take ownership of that folder and make it accessible but this could turn into a security issue.
