As I recall, this is what should happen. The spray tool allows you to quickly render any part of the wireframe. Handy if you want a quick reference to what a particular part of your render will look like when you're finished working on it.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for responding.
I used to be able to use it not in wireframe. I have used it in pictures already rendered so you could blend in other materials while watching what it would do to the render. The mountains in this example were done that way. https://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/viking/1784830/?p
I will keep working at it. I thought I had some notes in my Bryce 4 tutorial book but it seems to be eluding me at the moment.

You're very welcome.
It's possible that you need a combination of keystrokes to get it to work the way you mention. Perhaps ctrl+alt or something similar.

Don, I managed to dig this out from Susan Kitchen's Bryce bible. I hope this helps.

Also, there is a slightly better guide if you go to the help tab on the top Bryce tool bar and then the Help Topics button. This will take you to the Bryce 6 Artist Guide.
In the Reference section scroll down to The Palettes/Advanced Display Palette/Spray Rendering.
Here you'll find an overview and two subsections on the spray modes operation.
Happy rendering!

Please note the last part of the spray render description in the Palettes/Advanced Display Palette/Spray Rendering where it indicates you can use the spray tool "in the render mode". That mode is not working for me. When I click on the spray tool while in the render mode, it just takes me back to wireframe instead of allowing use of the toll in render mode.
From somewhere in the recesses of my old memory I think that the spray tool was somewhat broken after B5.5. I recall Bryce used to crash on me every time I tried to use it but I can't recall whether it was B6 or later or whether it was ever fixed. Used to use the spray tool a lot myself. Cheers GG

I am seeking help with the spray render tool. I believe I used to render, escape to the wireframe, pick the object I wanted to spray render, pick the material, escape to render view, click the spray render tool, and then apply the spray material.
However, in render mode when I select the spray render tool, it automatically takes me to the wireframe view.
Has something changed or am I not remembering how to correctly use the tool? Thank you Don
