Thank you guys for leading me in the right direction. The Gingerbread tutorial was what the doctor ordered! :) I've imported Mr. teddy to PHI builder, but the message says "OBJ file not tested". I'm trying to click "Test" but it still seems to be "untested". Now what?? Apparently I didn't get the Help file when I downloaded PHI builder. Can anyone point me to a huser manual or sumpthin?? Thanks a lot. You guys are great! Britt

Have you positioned the OBJ file within the Geometries folder?

Yes. Mr Teddy is in a sub-directory of the Geometrics folder, called "my files"

Sharen, I don't know if any of them are out of order.. I haven't parented any of them. That was what I wanted to do in PHI Builder. I haven't renamed the groups in UV mapper either.. they're still called obj1, obj2 etc. just like they were in the original OBJ file. I'd like to rename them though! :) because in large models it's pretty hopeless to keep track of what obj is what part of the model. I haven't quite figure out how I can rename the different model parts. I tried to "assign group" in UV mapper, - but seemed to end up with double names. Phil... you're an angel! :))) Mr. Teddy is on his way to your mail box. Thank you so much! Britt

OK I've got him. You need to do the following:-

  • Import the teddy2.obj into Poser. Selecting only the "flip normals" option in the import dialog. He is inside out!
  • In poser set his scale to 1% ... you have a very big bear there :)
  • Export from Poser with the "Include existing groups" option selected. .... I've called this teddy3.obj
  • Now open in UVMapper and define your group names... Select/Select by/Group then Edit/Assign/to Group.
  • Save the model
  • Open in PHIbuilder and arrange your hierarchies

Give that a go but holla if you get stuck and we'll come a running :)

Phil!! Thanks a bunch. I'll see if I can get Mr Teddy turned the right way. lol How do you suppose it got that way? And how do I find out if all my other converted models are behaving the same way?? Oh, yeah... and it's one BIG Mr. Teddy. lol You should have seen the hats I've been experimenting with.. The Dork could take a swim in them! g
