Hi Folks

I've posted before about a problem I'm having. Poser is a hobby for me and it didn't make sense for me to update my version for a simple hobby. I am STILL using Poser 4. It's worked great on my windows 7 PC for years. Now Windows 7 is going away in January 2020. I loaded my Poser 4 on the a Windows 10 PC. It seemed to be fine until i tried to "Make Movie". As soon as I hit send it to be created the executable fails and shuts down. I've had many great suggestions from a lot of great people. I've tried everything but still no luck. So if I'm going to continue with this hobby i may have to bite the bullet next year and get an updated Poser. I still need to watch the wallet here. I've found some Poser Pro 12 Versions on amazon. They will be affordable after a bit of saving. I'm just wondering everyone's opinion on Poser Pro 12? Is it Glitchy??? Do Old versions of Posette and Dork work on there?? Any info would be helpful. Thank you!!!

Well, Smith-Micro no longer lists Poser as one of their products, so that is news to me. As for Poser Pro 12, I couldn't find a single mention of it from any legitimate source. So I would definitely not buy it from Amazon. Poser Pro 11 is, to my knowledge, the last version of Poser. If there is a 12 in the works, I would think it would non-stop chatter around here. If you want to upgrade from Poser 4, I would suggest Poser 7 is decent compromise.

That was the version I used until SM offered a $49 upgrade to Pro 11. I got the physical disk, but honestly, real life trauma has had me owning it for a few years without ever installing it.

Depending on how powerful your computer is, you might want to make a VirtualBOX Windows XP machine, and just put your Poser 4 in there.

Renderosity has announced today that it has acquired the Poser software from Smith Micro. Right now, the Poser forum at SM is read-only.

Gaikydo, do you mean Poser Pro 2012? Poser Pro 12 would be the next iteration of Poser Pro, not made yet (explaining: for previous versions, we had things like "Poser 9" and "Poser Pro 2012", "Poser 10" and "Poser Pro 2014", speaking of the same Poser version but Pro or not. To make things less complicated, the following version became "Poser 11" and "Poser 11 Pro".)

Poser Pro 2012 is good, but keep in mind it's two versions behind - a lot of what you'll see around will be for newer versions. About Posette and Dork, I really don't know what to tell you - I haven't touched those since at least Poser 6.

Wow I'm surprised Poser 4 works on Win 7. I stuck with Poser Pro (7) for quite a while. I'm still on 2014 because it is the best version for animation as far as I have experienced. The latest stuff is amazing too but there are just some bugs and things that annoy the crap out of me enough to not update just yet. Hope it gets worked out.
If you're that hardcore about sticking to the old stuff you should look into preserving an old PC. I know people do it. Not certain how myself.
