Subject: Where are the (Smith Micro) Poser Tutorials on Youtube?

tchamberlain2 ( ) posted Tue, 02 July 2019 at 9:14 PM · edited Thu, 21 November 2024 at 2:40 PM

I have desperately been looking for the Smith Micro Poser 11 tutorial versions on YouTube. It appears that the Smith Micro YouTube account has took them off. The only video tutorials that I can find for Poser Pro 11 is the ones made by Renderosity. Smith Micro Had a tutorial (that I loved) that dealt with working the Kinect Motion Sensor. I have always watched this tutorial (even when I didn't have this version of Poser 11). Now that I have it and am ready to use it, the Smith Micro YouTube page pulls it down. PLEASE TELL ME THERE IS STILL A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN EITHER VIEW SMITH MICRO'S POSER TUTORIALS OR DOWNLOAD THEM!!! Does anybody know?

Check out the thread in this forum called "The Poser Content Directory". It should tell you what you need to know.

EClark1894 you may have to go back and remove all the YouTube video links that point to SM webinars as the videos are now no longer available. Pity Renderosity didn't buy the rights to the videos as well as the program code. A lot of good information was in those videos.

What is it with Poser that every time something changes (ownership, forums, etc) it just all disappears?

The concept of escrow or trusteeship for product related digital information seems to be entirely foreign to the software industry, though others with direct experience may know differently. I suppose it has to do with the limited concepts of digital ownership that prevail. Like people's ability to will physical property to their successors not applying to digital media rights.

Contact Renderosity about the video tutorials. Maybe they have access to those videos or they can contact SM to get them and make them available under the Renderosity YT channel.

jennblake said in this thread, "Those videos will be appearing on the Renderosity Poser channel very soon." regarding the SM webinars. Were there other tutorials they had done?

Apparently, no one's reading anything with my name attached to it.

Either that or it wasn't clear what videos were being talked about. Also something of this scope (all the how to's) should of had an OFFICAL announcement saying something along the lines of we are re-doing the videos and will be posting them some where else. Although that does not change the fact that any post that may have linked to a video now is pointing to a message Video has been removed.

It wasn't official because Renderosity did not start either thread on the subject. I haven't changed the links yet in the directory because there's not much point until I have a link to change it to.

Hi! I deal with this from time to time. I promise you, code and asset escrow is a whole discipline in and of itself in the software industry. I'm pretty sure Rendo has done due diligence in this department as well (Lord, I hope so...) but what I've seen so far seems a bit haphazard, so it's going to take awhile to shift everything over

an0malaus ( ) posted Fri, 12 July 2019 at 10:45 AM

Thanks for that! I was sure somebody would know. I did see an earlier comment which struct me as probably close to the truth, in that RDNA's Poser Forum was sanctioned and supported but not owned by Poser's Software owners, hence it's disconnect and disappearance when RDNA's buyout occurred. It felt like someone had maliciously erased part of my existence, though one should never attribute to malice what can simply be accomplished by incompetence. 😜
