I'm looking to update my graphics card to an EVGA 1060 SC 6Gb (06G-P4-6163-KR). Here's the thing. Other EVGA 1060 SC 6Gb cards cite the fact that they can use a myriad of Direct X solutions. The 6163-KR only lists Direct X 12. Anyone have an idea or know of a forum where I can ask whether this card wil work with versions of Direct X earlier than 12?

Second, does anyone have experience updating a WIndows 7 machine (SP1) from Direct X 11 to Direct X 12? MSFT wasn't initially going to let Win 7 support 12 but supposedly changed their mind.

Thank you

The version of DX12 for Windows 7 is a port, which basically means that it wont work with all DX12 programs. To enable it all you need are the latest drivers for the card. I'm not sure how many DX12 games will work with it, and that is it's primary intention, games. DX12 support will be limited in Windows 7 for sure.

Yes, I have DirectX 11. The proposed graphics card says DirectX 12. I'm trying to figure it it is backwards compatible since it is basically an older card. I don't need DirectX 12 for anything else I'm doing on the machine. Thanks fr the response; seems to say DX12 is a wierd one on 7.

I found an evga forum, but to get on to ask a question you basically have to give them all your information as well as your first born.

All versions of DX are backwards compatible.
