Subject: 2nd Skins

arrow1 ( ) posted Mon, 29 July 2019 at 4:53 PM · edited Wed, 25 September 2024 at 6:03 PM

Can anyone assist me on how to make second a skin by way of clothes for Michael 4 and males generally? I want to make a long winter coat with high neck jumper along with shoes etc! Do I use a bodysuit as a base? I want to be able to show the figure both front and back. I need to save on computer resources and I thought this may be the best way to go! Cheers

normally you'd paint your clothing texture onto M4's body/arms skin texture maps and then you want to create a blank and white mask texture to tell the mat room what uses skin shaders and what uses clothing shaders.

Also: second skins are best for tight fitting undergarments like stockings and underwear. Here we see V4 with second skin underwear and stockings. The stockings use a shader by baggensbill and are on a second layer on top of the normal skin shaders so you still get SSS. Stockings.jpg

the hard way: opening up M4's texture map or template in Photoshop or GIMP and painting the textures right on his skin maps. Best to keep it all in layers so you can re-use the second skin on other texture maps. here is an example of what that looks like

Sorry to be a pain! But what if I have a large overcoat the spreads outside the texture map area? Cheers

You can't really do something like an overcoat as a second skin. It would not look right because it follows the mesh, so it would not cover the legs below the hips, it would wrap around each leg.

If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

There we go. I was wondering what he would do about the extra cloth of an overcoat. The jumper would be easier though an example of exactly what he means by a jumper would be best. I mean, I never heard of a jumper for men.

A jumper is just a sweater

Jumpers can be either sweaters or overalls. A quick google search also includes some dresses. For a guy, I would imagine coveralls might also be one. It's likely one of those things that changes depending on locale.

Yada Yo.

Really? Sweaters for men are called sweaters and so forth. I might accept overalls as a "jumper". Still, I forget that a lot of our Poserhood are from other countries. Here in the USA, we speak English but it's better said, "I speak American". If I axe you for a plate of sketti, any American knows what I mean. So it's all good.

How did it turn it out? I'm making a tank top for F4 so I really would like to know.

Please take a look at this tread from 2011 and study the text and material setups. it is a step by step and I end up without using masks LOL.

In "English" you know that language spoken in England (and the rest of the UK) a jumper is a sweater, nobody would think of it as anything else.

The only issue I have with stocking second skins (I have two differents sets from two different vendors) is that toe. One of the steamiest movies of the previous century was named Gilda. The shots are taken from that movie so you can see what I mean.

Toes shouldn't individually covered but covered as a group. I want that seam AND reinforced sole and toes ala Full Fashion Stockings.

I'd like to solve that problem.

I'm adding a nudity tag though there is no nudity. It's still pretty racy. The actress is Rita Hayworth who deserves her own morph.

QuietRob- How about making second skin stockings and adding a 'shoe' that only covers the toes? Not a conceptually elegant solution, but I think it would be relatively easy to do.

And Rita seems to be experiencing a lot of poke-through...

ghostship2 ( ) posted Fri, 23 August 2019 at 4:09 PM

@quietrob there are plenty of stocking products in the marketplace and the shaders work on those too.
