Subject: Poser11 good and bad.... Library Function?

I'm operating Poser 2014 pro - the one just under Poser 11 Pro. I bought Poser 111 Pro as an early adopter but did not install it when I heard that there were some bugs and that in particular they had changed the Version 10-2014 Pro Library Search function that was working super well to something more complicated and less efficient.

I do not know what the current state of the LIbrary search is, but I've talked to several artists and a number of them feel the same way that I do, that poser 2014 with the gaming and poly reduction functions is a better value than Poser 11. I'm sorry about that because it apparently precludes the new La Femme Character which I would very much like to use and support.

Any thoughts comments? What's the current state of the Poser library search function vs Poser10-2014? What reasons are there that I should load my copy Poser 11 pro or stay with Poser 2014 pro?

Personally, I love the new library functions. I found the Adobe based libraries troublesome and cumbersome to use. Every time Adobe updated Flash, they broke the danged library. And, the updates were frequent enough, with all their security holes, to be troublesome and maddening.

The Poser 11 library is fast, easy to use, and doesn't break constantly.

I concur. That's my experience, too.

The only glaring omission, which most people won't come across, is the absence of a Python API call to refresh the library display if a script has changed the contents of the currently displayed library folder.

There's also the minor matter that opening the library in a browser, external to Poser, has to use exactly the same library display preferences, so you can't change preferences to suit the browser library view without it affecting the internal Poser library view. Otherwise, it's all pretty good.

Having to use only one monitor I liked the Poser Pro 2014 library because it could be external and the switch between the program and the library was simple. I find the PP 11 library difficult to use and even though I've updated to the latest version it is still slow for me whereas the PP2014 and even PP2012 libraries are much faster. I have since gone back to using P3DO Explorer and Chrome when using PP 11. Updating Flash was not really a dealbreaker because I would have to update it anyway not just for the library.

Except of course for the Mac users where Apple has banned Flash. So Poser had no real choice except to find a different library.
