Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)

Since I never have a reliable internet connection, I made my Poser 11 install permanently activated 2 years ago. It's a simple, easy process.
I did the same Glitterati but later found out that if I had to use it on another pc I couldn't. Since I'm on a 6-yr old machine I'm afraid I'm due for a new one soon so I had to have the permanent feature removed.
I also have my work PCs permanently offline for security reasons (as well as protecting myself from those incessant updates). I made all my licenses permanent, but if Poser ever requires a permanent online connection, that will be the end of Poser for me, without hesitation. So yeah I hope they either keep it this way or revert to the old style.

I'm Poser Only and with all the viruses out there I operate my expensive graphics machines stand alone and firewalled from the web.
It is a royal pain to deal with the Smith Micro Kill Switch and in my opinion this was one of the most most bone-headed things that Smith Micro did.
Thankfully I have other devices that I buy graphics etc from and transfer to my my graphics machines.
Please get rid of the Poser Kill switch. For my most powerful machines I do not buy software that requires regular automatic connections to the web.
As an example I have Blacksmith5 which does not require regular connections. I had no problem purchasing the upgrade to the newer version and looked forward to the new interface. Upon finding that it would not operate without connecting to the web to verify - effectively having a Smith Micro Kill switch - I returned it and am still using Blacksmith 5.
