Subject: How do I reset up viewing my PP11 Library externally

Miss B ( ) posted Fri, 06 September 2019 at 3:57 PM · edited Wed, 11 December 2024 at 10:45 PM

I've been using the External Library option for quite a while now, which allows me to view my Library in my browser, but I have to update my PP11 to the latest version before version 11.2 is made available on September 16th, and for some reason I can't find the instructions on how to do this, so if there's anyone out there that also uses their PP11 Library externally through their browser, I would greatly appreciate any insights on how to do this.

I do have mine bookmarked, so do have the proper link, but I believe there's a Poser file that gives Poser the instructions to look for the Library through the external link, and that's the instructions I'm looking for.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

OK, nevermind folks. I found the answer on the SM Poser Forum. I had a feeling it might be there, but wasn't sure until I just checked. 😄

I use this address in my browser and have bookmarked it. http://localhost:11530/nonVirtualAssets/ContentLibrary/release-1.9.1/ContentLibrary/ContentLibrary.html Are we talking about the same thing or is there a different method? I'm pretty sure BagginsBill had given this tip some time ago but just reposting the link for anyone else following this thread.

However, you do need to have Poser running for this to work. You can't just open a browser window with the library. I also use the addon Dark Mode for Chrome which makes browsing the library easier, at least for me!

Yes Kalypso, I have it bookmarked, and it's working fine. I just wasn't sure if I'd have to change anything in the bookmark this time around, but since it was a simple update from 11.0.7.x to the current 11.1.1.x, it didn't need any tweaking. We'll see what happens when 11.2 shows up on the 16th.

What I was wondering about was part of the original instructions Joe/Netherworks had posted on the old RDNA forum quite a while ago that explains how to set it up in the Poser.ini file, and then Seachnasaigh mentioned bookmarking it so you didn't have to do it every single time. I did see BB's comment, but I had already set it, and had it working by then. I've now copied everything to a text file on my hard drive so I don't have to go searching again. ~shakes head~

I also remember someone mentioning being able to browse the library with Poser closed, and it doesn't work. As far as Dark Mode in my Firefox, I find it easier to see what's what without Dark Mode, so I usually flick it off when I've got Poser open, but that's just me.

Hi MissB. Things are improving in the new Poser release, but not everything will be exactly the same. The link Kalypso posted has a reference to a specific server version, which may not be valid for a new release. Your bookmarks may need to be updated to continue working.

Hey an0malaus, I'm aware of that, as the URI I'm using is slightly different, as I'm not using the "local host" portion, but an actual IP address, and it's still working for now.

As far as improvements, I didn't play in the latest version much yesterday after updating, but it was loading up and reacting to what I did play with much quicker than what I had been experiencing for some time, so that's an improvement for sure. I'll have to play with it some more to see what else I notice, and I'm looking forward to seeing what version 11.2.x will bring. Hopefully, some goodies folks have been asking for. 😉
