Subject: PPro 11.2: Render Cache only saving half of my renders

Just a minor thing with no priority. I'm probably one of the few that likes it that Poser saves my previous renders anyway, but when I start up PPro 11.2, only a part of my previous renders show up, the other half is missing. Just mentioning.

What limit did you set up for your cache?

The default limit (100). It somehow skips random renders. The first one I still have, then two are missing, three is there, four is missing, etc... It does not seem to discriminate between Firefly ans Superfly renders.

Poser 11 has been like that for me since I first got it, before any patches or the update. It would save the last render I did, maybe one before that, and then nada, even though I have it set to maximum for the cache.

Just out of curiosity what OS are you using? I have to wonder if my issues with the program getting weird on me are because I'm on Windows 7.

Just as a general troubleshooting idea, you could turn on message log in poser on the chance that a message is shown related to this. It's the little comic book style text bubble between the bell and library icon in the upper right. I wish the log could be sorted to show latest message on top, but you either have to scroll to the bottom or do a "clear all" on it just before you render. Click the right-pointing triangle on the Message Log header for the option to clear it.

I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64, until it gets phased out early next year. I never had that kind of problem in Poser 11 standard. I still have Poser Debut 10 installed, for the heck of it; no problems either.

It is getting stranger.

I decided to trace the folder where my render cache renders are stored. (users/(user name)/AppData/Roaming/Poser Pro/11)

All my renders seem to be there.

But Poser is only recognizing a part of them...?

Just counted:

Saved renders in my render cache folder: 16 renders.

Renders shown in Poser: 5 out of 16.

To make it even stranger: It is showing me a DIFFERENT SELECTION every time I restart Poser......

I'm experiencing the same issue … missing "recent renders" displayed in Poser even though the renders are all saved in the render cache, but with a weird extension .exr that I have no idea how to open. Has this issue been resolved?

No. This thread was largely ignored. I noticed no change between versions 11.2.272 and 11.2.296....

Noticed that, if you erase some of the renders in the cache, some of the lost renders re-emerge again. They are there, but Poser decides to show some, and hide others. For no explainable reasons.

Thanks. Two follow up questions.

Did you submit a trouble ticket?

I found my renders in the render cache in files with an .EXR extention. Do you know how to open them or, better yet, convert them to a PNG or JPG file?

Update: Just discovered and installed a new Poser update, posted October 11th.

This version (11.2.307) shows all the renders from the cache.

Thanks, Renderosity/Bondware!!!!

Badia01 ( ) posted Tue, 15 October 2019 at 8:38 AM

I did the same. We'll see whether version 307 eliminates the glitch.
