Subject: Hello and thankyou from a new member

My best wishes and thanks to everyone here at Renderosity for continuing the Poser legacy after SmithMicro and supporting things going forward into a new era.

Thanks also to all the beta testers and content vendors for providing the new extra content it is much appreciated and greatly received, thanks.

I first bought PP2012 a few years back and then I upgraded to PP11. I would have to say the update for new version was smooth to 11.2 and I had no issues and my account/serial number was automatically added for me which was great.

Also my Octane Render install didn't need any attention and everything just worked straight from the off, so thankyou.

Enjoy a couple of my first renders with new version and new content, cheers.

Welcome aboard. I'm glad everything went well for you. Thanks for checking in! Don't be a stranger and check out the Hivewire forum while you're at it. I think you'll like both places.

hello!! and welcome to Renderosity & the Poser forums. lots of good resources around, meaning mainly extremely knowledgeable people, to help you get the most out of Poser should you have questions. of course there's also the MarketPlace for fun new toys to play with, too. or take a break and just have fun talking to folks in here... it's a sorted lot, which can get quite silly and playful at times...

Which is a diplomatic way of saying, "We have experienced users, we have extremely talented artists and wonderfully creative vendors... Oh, and we have idiots like Sam."

Hey thanks for all the welcomes!!!

I also own IClone 7 and CC3.

My first tip of the day. You can import CC3 actors into Poser if you want. The .fbx files import them weird, the head looks like it's snapped and everything is out of whack.

The issue is with the parenting. Each separate object is parented to the wrong object when imported. They come in with eyes, tongue and teeth all parented to the wrong object. Re parent each object back to the main root bone or body and then it all works fine.

You can't set up IK as far as I can see due to the roll joints interfering with the bone order when selecting the leg to foot.

You can use simple skin weights rather than uni-mesh and you can pose and select your characters using the direct manipulation select each body part.

Have fun :D

Thanks again for the welcomes, much appreciated.

What I would like to see from Poser going forward.

Alembic import.

I think it would be great having this option. This would enable artists to import simulation cache data for starters.

On a more Poser level playing field it would enable us to import simulation data straight from Marvelous Designer and object meshes too. Another benefit to alembic is that it will import curves as well, so if you created hair strands in another package they would come in with the alembic data.

With ZBrush I seem to have a limit of only being able to import a certain amount of hairs per object from GoZ no matter what density settings I use.

Cheers
