Subject: Clean Air

quietrob ( ) posted Wed, 02 October 2019 at 12:07 PM ยท edited Mon, 25 November 2024 at 12:13 PM

Let the name be stricken from every book and tablet. Stricken from every pylon and obelisk of Renderosity. Let the name be unheard and unspoken, erased from the memory of man, for all time.

So let it be written. So let it be done.

Yes. The air is cleaner today. Thank you.

Actually, that's the name of "Moses", from The Ten Commandments. I've watched that movie every year since I was a kid. Almost as much as the Wizard of Oz.

Earl, you are 100 percent correct. I changed it to reflect the current state of this forum but you are 100 percent correct. Btw I watch the Wizard of Oz if I can catch it on TCM.

Welllll...

I guess this won't make me many friends but...

I think it's better to set a good example, rather than dogpiling after the fact. Am I glad the thread finally got shitcanned? Yep, I am. But I don't think it's a great idea - nor does it show us in a good light - to be crowing about it now.

We can all be better than this.

Luckily, some people can have a difference of opinion and still remain friends. Not all but some. I believe myself not to be so shallow or perfect that all must think as I do. So I'll get into it.

Sam, the missing thread was a testament to the goodness and decency of the people here. He threatened and people tried to help him. He turned it up a notch and it took a while before people realized that he had no intention of wanting help. He was ignored to see if he was serious or would come back or just what was his deal. He became nastier. I would say take a look and see who cursed him, who abused him and you would see that shaking my head was the most typical response. Look at this very thread that I started. It's not a party but I would be glad if it were.

I do not think we should act as if it never happened. If we do, it will happen again and this wonderful place of frustration, kindness and creativity will suffer again. I think it's better that we discuss what we, as a whole, should do. I wasn't pleased with the mods lack of action, though I do understand why. We do not want to suppress peoples honest thoughts and feelings. We always have a hope that honest discourse, we will find a resolution. I do know what has happened recently. A rant came in. He received help and kept it up. He received more help and the truth was revealed. Certainly, if he didn't apologize he certainly was amenable, cooperative and ended up getting a real problem solved.

He who shall not be named was not that person or that type of person.

It is obvious what he was by the end of the thread. He got what he deserved and I am glad he is gone. I don't think I'm doubling down when I say, that right now the air is a little cleaner. This is what I think. This is what I believe. You say we can do better.

I think we did.

I "think", but am not sure I'm remembering the same thread you guys are discussing, but we have had similar issues over at HiveWire from a certain individual whom we didn't want to ban, because we knew he would go back to the forum where he mainly hangs out, and bad mouth us. Unfortunately, it got to the point where we had to do so, and he's definitely not been missed. Again, as Rob stated above, we definitely have had cleaner air on the forums since.

Fair comment, mate. I was concerned that the thread could turn into a hate fest but I stand corrected.

As the OP, I say Post your cat pictures as you will. I still want to see a cat-a-pult in action.
