Subject: What's up with the RMP?

randym77 ( ) posted Mon, 07 October 2019 at 9:41 PM ยท edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 5:54 AM

I tried to place an order tonight, and got an error message saying my postal code was not valid for my country.

I've been placing orders here for over 15 years, using the same address. Most recently four days ago. I did not change anything.

Eventually, I edited my address to change my zip + 4 to a plain 5-digit zip code (which was more difficult than it needed to be - it looks like you can edit your address on the error page, but you can't, it just looks like you did). That went through. Even though it doesn't match the address on my credit card.

Rosity, you're making it harder for people to give you money.

Perhaps try setting up a paypal account. It's fast, easy and you don't have to worry about such things.

It wouldn't let me pay with PayPal. It was my address it rejected. Even though it's the same address I've been using since 2002.

Well, at least you managed to get it fixed. Now that the purchase went through, you might try sending a Jen a message in the marketplace forum. You'll find you're not the only one with an issue. Getting paid is what every company wants. If they don't see it here, it's certain they'll see it there.

I DID have a valid address line. It's the same address on my credit card, and that PayPal has for me. It's the same address I've used since 2002.

The problem was that I had a ZIP+4, instead of just a ZIP. ZIP+4 is what the US Post Office recommends, and it's has never been a problem before.

Kinda funny to have that big notice saying your address must match the address on your credit card...then insist on an address that does not match my credit card.

Ah. I understand it is something US only then.

Things like a postal address in the US can literally change overnight particularly with credit cards and bank cards. The plus four zip code actually tells the post office that you're in a specific section in your city. If it doesn't match up with what they have on a computer file, it may not go through. Or, despite your protestations, you may have just made a typo and didn't catch it. I was trying to clock out at work one day at the end of my shift, and the computer told me that I wasn't putting the right numbers in. I checked, and it was the correct number. It told me again, that I hadn't input the correct number. So I backspaced the numbers and lo and behold, when I reached the end, I had an extra space. I re-typed the number without the space and this time it went through.

That's not it. My address has not changed. And I did not make a typo, because I did not type in my address. My address is stored here at Rosity; I never need to type it in.

I think they changed something on their end, and it's now rejecting correct addresses. If it's just me, no big deal. I'll adapt.

If it's affecting everyone in the U.S., though, this could affect their bottom line. It takes very little to make people abandon their online shopping carts and not buy. That's why Amazon pushes that one-click thing - less chance for customers to change their minds.

That's why I use PayPal. it is only one place I need to give my address, not all the places I shop. I'm in the US and that worked for me as late as a week ago which was my last purchase here. perhaps another US customer can verify a more recent success/failure?

randym77 ( ) posted Tue, 08 October 2019 at 12:32 PM

PayPal did not work for me. It was the address stored here at Rosity, which has been the same since 2002, that was the problem, not PayPal.

It worked for me fine on my previous order, which was just four days before, so if something changed, it's very recent.
