Subject: Poser 11.2 Library in Browser

I have been using this address in my browser to access the Poser 11 library:

http://localhost:11530/nonVirtualAssets/ContentLibrary/release-1.9.1/ContentLibrary/ContentLibrary.html

Since updating to Poser 11.2 this has stopped working. Can anyone tell me what I'm supposed to change so that I can continue to see the Poser library in my browser?

Hey Kalypso, I've been using the External Library now for quite a while, but I went about it a different way.

The following are the steps Joe/Netherworks had originally posted on the old RDNA forum, which English Bob quoted on the HiveWire forum a while back. I hope this helps you.

  1. Close Poser 11.
  2. Go to "C:>Users>YOURUSERNAME>AppData>Roaming>Poser Pro>11" in your file browser. (Sorry this forum won't show the backward slash)
  3. Open Poser.ini in a (not notepad) text editor.
  4. Look for an entry named LIBRARY_EXTERNAL_CLIENT and change the 0 to 1.
  5. Save Poser.ini
  6. Open Poser 11.
  7. Click the Library Button and you will see some "instructions".
  8. Highlight everything on the line after "Release URL = ", right-click and choose copy.
  9. Open a browser window (Firefox, Safari, Chrome, etc) and paste that into the URL field.
  10. You may need to allow this URL if you are running with safe surfing type addons.
  11. You can now access the library externally.

Lastly, I would suggest you bookmark that in your browser. Only thing is, it won't work if you don't have Poser open first.

Thank you very much Miss B! That worked perfectly. I like having the browser option because I can quickly switch from the program to the library from the taskbar but I did go back and set LIBRARY_EXTERNAL_CLIENT to 0 again.

Yes, I know about having Poser open because as I said, I've been using that older url with Poser 11 for some time now but the updated changed that.

Good, glad it worked for you. I like the ease of use as well, and have even tested drag 'n' drop, and it works as long as you keep "holding" the item until you have Poser in view again. I don't usually use that method, but I know folks who do, so tried it out just to see if it worked.

Miss B, never knew about the external library. Groovy info. I'm itching to use it now. Thanks.

You're welcome. It took me a little getting used to, but now I don't want to go back to the Internal Library, because now I can have 5 or 6 thumbnails across each row, so if a folder has a lot of options, I don't have to scroll forever to find what I'm looking for. 😉

Yes, and you can have multiple tabs open (I tend to have 2 or 3 pointing to different runtimes) (or about 6 by the time I quit Poser 😀

Miss B, I can have loads of thumbnails in the internal library, I just float it and resized it. That way it must be pretty similar to a browser version.

Although I can also see the multiple tab option mentioned by AmethystPendant for different runtimes being handy.

Yes Raven, that's just about how mine looks in my browser. I just don't like floating windows, especially a large one like the library in that format. I'm always afraid I'll accidentally close it.

Yes, I was just going to respond I'd never thought of trying it, but may just do that to see how I like it. It certainly does sound like it would be handy to do that.

if you accidentally close it, just go to the window menu and check libraries. The library will reappear.

Very true, but knowing me, I'd be doing that several times a day. 😉
