Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
My workstations are on P11 version 11.2.272 (64bit Win7Pro/Ult), and my Queue-only remotes are 11.2.5724 (64bit Win7Pro). Networking frames out via Queue works.
Look at your firewall's application rules on every machine. They make a distinction between Queue's rule for home network versus public network, for instance. So, make sure that Queue Manager, FFRender64, and Poser each have permissions both incoming and outgoing.
Join each computer to your same homegroup.
I also have the destination folder within a shared (read/write) folder.

Thanks for the thoughtful and helpful reply. Unfortunately, my machines are on Windows 10 and Microsoft removed the Homegroup feature. I checked the permissions and there really shouldn't be anything blocking the remote rendering... unless something happened with the transition to Bondware setup that bricked the queue manager and remote rendering for those of us with Win 10 machines. I'm kind of surprised Bondware hasn't replied or otherwise addressed this question. Hard to imagine I'm the only one trying to use queue manager on Win 10 machines.

I was about to ask the same questions. I'd like to install this version's queue manager on another PC. Also… Is there any chance we get a version of it that works on cheaper OS's? Getting windows 10 for just a render node seems way too expensive.
I run Queue Manager on a Windows 7 machine just fine.

Can Queue/FFRender64 run on Linux? If anyone has, please post and let us know, including what variant of Linux you are running! That would allow for PiXiE booting all of the servers with a single command from the master workstation.
I've not tried running a multi-machine Windows Server (year?) license, either. So I can't tell you if that would work.
@SuperCDR: I bought OEM Win7 licenses at $72 each for my servers; these are legit, and come with the holographic validation sticker. They are intended for shops/individuals building their own computers. The only downside as compared to the pricy retail jewelboxed license is that you don't get MS tech support if you have trouble getting Windows installed.
Search the web for OEM Win7 and/or OEM Win10, if you think that would be within budget.

Same with me, Glitterati. All of my servers and workstations are 64bit Win7 (Pro or Ultimate). I can use any of my four workstations as master to control the servers; no problem. I have no Win8, Win8.1, or Win10 machines, so I can't be sure if the problem @SuperCDR is having is peculiar to Win10.

Note regarding buying an OEM license: Don't buy one of those $5 specials on eBay which offer a serial key and/or an installation disc. Those have already had that serial key activated on someone else's machine, and the all-important holographic validation sticker is on that guy's computer. Those offers are worthless.
You want the unopened CD envelope with the holographic validation sticker inside. They seem to run about $140 now for Win10.

this is the most current post i see on qm?!? I have all windows 10 machines and i'd like to do network rendering over them. If I'm not confused I think thats what QM is for. I currently have version 11.3.818 on both poser and qm. i rendered a frame on qm and it worked fine. but i haven't installed qm on every system yet. Are the bugs out of it. Was considering upgrading to 12 but i sent an inquiry about it several days ago and no reply. Does QM work seamlessly in p12?
thanks
My machines are all Win7 64bit. I have run many batch lists via Queue Manager 12 and many animations as well. It works fine.
I have no machines with Win10 (or Win11, which is already out in the wild).

Eddy's post in another thread suggests that the P11 networking problem was introduced by a Win10 update.

hi
its working I'm just new to it and I have to say reading all this stuff just got me confused. I use Vue Hypervue and it is very similar. The most important part is that the qm all have to be the same build. i didn't even realize there where 3 builds of 11 since Bondware acquired it and my builds where all different. as for the permissions, because that got me really confused reading so many users saying it must be allowed in and out, all that happened when I initially opened it was Windows Firewall asked one time if I wanted to allow it on Public or Private. I only selected Private and it works fine. As for the serial number I was never asked to input, per Bondware there is only ONE serial number now for both Poser and Queue Manager, the same number which makes very logical since and is very convenient. Thanks Bondware. I hope poser 12 is the same.

Has anyone gotten the current version of Queue Manager to work? I installed Queue Manager build 11.2.5724.0 on several machines, including machines running Windows 7 or Windows 10, and networked by Ethernet and Wi-Fi. None of them can receive jobs from my main, Ethernet-connected, Windows 10 desktop, also with Queue Manager build 11.2.5724.0 installed. I checked the program permissions and all say "allow" for the relevant programs. No dice. I then tried disabling Norton Smart Firewall. Still nothing showing up. The machines can see each other under Network in Windows Explorer. I used to be able to use the Queue Manager when I was running Poser Pro 11 a couple years ago, but now that I'm back to it I can't get it to work. Any ideas? Thanks anticipatorily for any suggestions!
