Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 09 3:46 am)
I only know the Shenandoah clothes range for Genesis, at the DAZ Store. Since they were for Genesis 1, Crossdresser should automatically take them straight to M4 and Poser in a few seconds. Perhaps not the hat, and if the boots fail they are fairly replaceable from a range of others for M4.
"Dynamic Uniforms for Michael 4" is the closest approximation I can find, other than that, but not authentic. There's also the "Bellhop" jacket, Canadian "Mountie" jacket, both very roughly in the right place but far from a good match.

@ Dreamin' Girl - America had a civil war over Slavery and whether it should exist. Northern States vs Southern States. The two groups were called The Union and the Confederacy. Sherman and Grant were two generals of the Union. All were considered Americans. These are the two Generals that Rhia is looking for. She wants the uniforms.
Slavery was an underlying element, but the key reasons were States' rights, economics and political power. After all, not everyone in the South wanted Slavery, and not everyone in the North wanted to end it. Remember, the North was mostly industrialized and the South had a lot of slaves. When Lincoln emacipated the slaves, he threw a major monkey wrench into the South's economy.
Warning: slight rant.
@HartyBart, See, the point is, to use something in POSER, I'd need to spend almost 30 bucks to buy a clothing bundle for a different figure in a different format, figure how to convert a competition only files piece of clothing to Poser format (using another software I never even installed), then use a different software I don't own to convert it yet again to be able to use it for a different figure. That seems an awful lot of work to me and I often shake my head at why on earth it is that there are like six gazillion almost-the-same skimpywear outfits for V4 on here, and there are six gazillion perfectly nice and useable covering and well-done clothes over at the other site for other figures.
I am a Poser user and always will be but lately the inavailability of real clothing and historical type outfits and the difficulty of converting clothing items really disheartened me. Even here, the difference is stark. I hope the recent change in ownership may convince vendors to provide content here that is a bit more diverse for Poser. I also hope the current owners make clothes conversions supported more by a better tutorial for the Fitting Room which I use regularly.
Okay, rant over, I return to writing and thank you for everyone for trying to find something which apparently does not exist.
@Rhia: the biggest part of the problem, IMHO, is simply profitability. People will mindlessly buy a kazillion bra-and-panty sets for their little virtual Barbies, but a Civil War set โ and an especially complicated one like these, simply wont find a sufficient audience for the vendor to turn a profit on it, not unless s/he can provide a morph that allows it to fit G8F or LaF and is open all the way to the waist. :-) I almost daresay that if someone put together a package of "sexy Civil War generalettes", it would be a sensation.
I agree that M4 was one of the best guys put out there, but he was โ like all the Poser men โ woefully undersupported, because everyone wanted the cash cows that were V4 and the Genesis women. If you have something that works for M3, I suggest rummaging around for an older version of Poser and using Wardrobe Wizard. I use it to distraction, and it's provided my go-to figure, Kyle 1.5, with over 30 gigs of stuff. Even if you have to buy the standalone version from PhilC, it's well worth the investment.

@ Earl. I've broached the reasons for the civil war at another time and place and I know from personal experience this would end badly. One should never debate politics and religion at our favorite place. I will give you that I said what I said on purpose as it's what I truly believe and was an explanation on our civil war to one of our friends on foreign shores, who might not be knowledgeable on our country's past. I will also say that reasons you gave were also part of things as well. So let's table that particular discussion for a more appropriate forum. I'd be happy to discuss it with you at any other time as I love intelligent discourse that sticks to facts and doesn't get personal.
@Rhia. I hear you loud and clear. I still bemoan the lack of such historical items. I am a fan of skimpy clothing for the gals but comfort, style and class should be just as available. (It appears that Lafemme has mostly gone the demure route) It looks like we can find European military clothing for bygone era's, roman and Egyptian clothing for M4 and even great clothing for World War 2 between the Nazi's and the Allies (Japanese military clothing missing). I think between DAZ and Rendo, every other period throughout time is covered but NOT the Civil War. It's we like just hiccuped and skipped right over it when it came to M4.
I don't mind converting clothing but there is nothing like getting clothing that is made for that particular figure and our particular software. It's use is seamless, quick and most of all, satisfying. The clothes you want for M4 is almost within reach. Long double breasted jacket with brass buttons that goes to the knee or at least mid thigh, collars, some type of tie and epaulets. Musketeer hat or just a western hat, both are available. So close yet so far away.
Tannebaum would be my first choice for such an outfit but he hasn't released anything new in a while. Perhaps Jenn or Boni could approach him. My last request, one for a luxurious mink coat and stole didn't fall on deaf ears. The coat came out...For DS ONLY at the HOME of Poser! I so enjoyed that spin kick to my teeth (Micro rant of frustration over). To both charming gals, I know it's not your fault. You two are just the ones answering the door.
rokket, I got the shower cap just fine (Thanks to this thread) is a conforming mink stole out of the question? Hope you made it to shore in good shape and they solved your Poser activation problems.

I understand the bundle also contains "Hot Abbie Lincoln", but the Ford's Theatre expansion set is no longer available.

@SeanMartin--yup, I got 2014 still installed, I'll see if I can get my WardrobeWizard re-fired. Fitting room did a decent job already but curious to see if WW does it better. @quietrob--yes, I'm not sure why it got skipped, it's not that the clothing is complicated. For now, between various 19th c. clothing pieces and retexturing, no rank/insignia undercover clothes can be done, but it'd be lovely to have the option of the actual military jackets and insignia.
As a former historian and wife of an ex-college professor, I get the complexity of the Civil War rather well. Same with the underlying basic evil of it. I live in Texas.
