Subject: Poser 11.2.319 translate editing tool deforming figure

I’m running into a strange problem using the translate editing tool to manipulate a figure’s body part. I’m running Poser 11.2.319 on a IMAC. The OS is Catalina, but I had this occasionally happen on Poser 11.1 with OS Mojave. In the latter instances, restarting the program would clear up the issue. Now, with the latest version of Poser and Catalina, the problem is always there.

When I first start Poser, the first manipulation of a body part works as expected until I stop manipulate said part body. If I try to manipulate any other body part, the tool deforms the body part.

I’ve attached two images. #1 is manipulating the figures arm Since it’s the first manipulation, it works fine. In pic #2, you can see when I try to move it again, the tool deforms the figure.

I don’t have any other issues with the other editing tools, just the translate tools. Any insight on what is causing this??

Translate will always do this since the arm is attached to a parent. in order to manipulate the arm, use rotate and twist only.

translate moves parts closer to / further away from their current position

Unless the you're holding down the [ESC] key while using the translate that shouldn't be happening. There's been other report of this happening on mac builds. It seems something may have been broken recently.

Definitely a different behavior with the translate tool. From time to time, I use the translate tool to "nudge" a hand or foot around and the limb/torso/etc. will follow along depending on how far I move the body part. I can confirm that the stretching is happening in Poser Pro 11.2.319 on macOS Catslina. Stretching DOES NOT occur on my Mac running macOS Sierra and Poser Pro 11.2.319.

Additionally, the translate tool works normally on the first use of it, but begins stretching on the following usages.

I hope this gets sorted out quickly.

Thanks Lee and Nerd, confirming it isn't just me that is experiencing this. Hopefully the developers will look into this.

fyi - there's a fix for this in the latest Mac beta build. Could use more testing if you guys are on testing team.

I'm not on the testing team but I'd sure like to test it.

Thank you for the heads up on the beta build, tim! I'm downloading the beta build now and will test it later today and report back on what I find.

I've installed the 11-26-2019 Mac beta build on my MacBook running macOS Catalina (10.15.1).

Poser is showing up as version 11.2.320.

The Translate tool works just as it's supposed to! Yay!

I'll play around a bit more with this beta build throughout the afternoon. Thanks so much, tim! I truly appreciate your guidance on this.

Lee, thanks for reporting back on that. That's good news!

You are most welcome, thartwick1! The developer team is doing a great job on tackling issues and I'm so glad they put out nightly builds for users to try (if they want to.)

And thank you, thartwick1, for identifying the bug. I would have encountered it eventually and it's awesome that it's already been fixed and waiting for the next public release of Poser. Kudos to all who report issues in such a clear and straightforward manner. That makes it easy for the rest of us to follow along and test things for ourselves. 😀
