Subject: Uploads per day

I thought we wre restricted to 4 gallery uploads per day? Some people are still uploading more. Please state website policy on this. Thank you.

Thought it was only 2 unless you purchase something...

yeah, LOL. I post an image only for it to be buried three seconds later by someone posting multiples.

Hm, I'd much prefer if there was a limit. I mean really, if nothing else, for quality control. I know I can't churn out several images a day, unless I do nothing else and don't even think about fiddling with things like lights and reflections.

is aware that this may sound elitist

Miss B ( ) posted Thu, 05 December 2019 at 4:16 PM

I'm usually restricted to 5 images a day, and I only upload more than one when it's been a while, and I'm catching up, as it were. Very often those render creation dates vary across months (or even years), because I don't necessarily add to my gallery each time I do a new render.

I think 4 a day should be the maximum. Recently there havw been bursts of more - I will name no names. Its just that if we post one or two, they can get buried by multiple posts of one image; etc ....

Rhia474 ( ) posted Thu, 05 December 2019 at 4:23 PM

nodnod Yep same here; sometimes I think it is because of the points awarded for each upload for Render Rewards. Then I stop not assuming positive intent.

Giana ( ) posted Thu, 05 December 2019 at 5:52 PM

i think it's partially to do with points, too... plus some folks have galleries at other sites and then decide to port all of that over here as well, so, it's not new work, but inundation of older stuff... tedious no matter the reasons or circumstances, i'm guessing...

i've no idea how people pull off even an image a day - i'm kinda envious that folks have that kind of time to play, actually, muchless have what seems to be bucketloads of muse-infested creativity, depending upon one's definition of creativity, i suspect...

i do wish that 'promo' images could somehow have their own, entirely separate gallery tho [meaning you have to seek that gallery out rather than having all images viewable in 'what's new'], as it seems that the galleries these days are dominated by such images -- of course, it could be argued, i guess, that all images are of a promotional nature unless you've created everything in it yourself and are not marketing what you created... and to be fair, to a degree, 'promos' seem to have slowed down a bit, as well... whatever... Oh, no. Nothing would ever go wrong. No one would ever dream of uploading 200 images a day. (Where's that sarcasm font again?)

I once pointed out I post novels in the writer's gallery. My stories are usually 120,000 words. I don't need an image in that gallery. I could post a word at a time and have 360,000 render points in no time. I could empty my wishlist. Fortunately, I am honorable and have no desire to get banned.

You can get points for spamming? Nope, no way that's going to be a problem.

Boni ( ) posted Fri, 06 December 2019 at 2:47 PM

Your points are well taken, but it's been this way for a few years now ... and except for a couple incidents of spammed images (the same image over and over) we honestly haven't had anything terrible happen. Hope we haven't jinxed it here. LOL.

If I upload something every few months I consider it a lot. 5+ a day, that's just wacky crazy insane-o-plex! 😲

Giana ( ) posted Fri, 06 December 2019 at 5:48 PM

hey, you can earn 20 points for uploading a freebie - AND that freebie could be just a single pose in itself [which i think is something that should be disallowed personally, or have a minimum number set, like at least 5-10 poses, or something, but that's just me...] you could earn points faster that way instead through the galleries... shrug

and i'd rather have 5-10 one pose freebies instead of 5-10 images of the same girl, with the same expression, with the same hair, maybe a tiny bit of variety in clothing, essentially not doing much of anything, posted all in one day back to back in the galleries [again, that's just me]

but, yanno - at the end of the day, if there's a 'system' in place, you will always have those that will work & exploit it to their own advantage - that's just Darwinism [kinda], isn't it?

Renderosity is actually a very good site in some ways to learn how to ignore what you don't like, and feel even more passionate about what does 'do it' for you as an individual...

Penguinisto ( ) posted Fri, 06 December 2019 at 7:39 PM

A fun compromise... maybe keep it unlimited, but you can only post one per hour?

There's someone spamming the free stuff too. They post pictures of everything labeled as backgrounds. The thing is there is a limit on free stuff uploads.

Upload limit: '3' per 24 hrs, per provider (all uploads received above upload limit of '3' per 24 hrs will be deleted.) Approvals: '1' per 24 hrs, per provider

As Boni said, there have been a few spammers, but it hasn't been as bad as it could be.

yea, 3 images a day into the galleries, to match the freebie rules, so all regulations are consistent would be good, but probably good for some, and not for others...

i'm sure it's a fine balancing act, to try to come up with rules, & a happy medium, to appease the majority, and then, to try to reinforce them to boot...

A slightly complicated and difficult to enforce (?) rule would be 20 posts per week.

A few years ago I had a gallery here with quite a lot of images but then I closed the gallery for a few different reasons. When Rendo recently purchased Poser I was drawn back and I found many of the reasons that I closed the gallery were no longer an issue. Over the past couple of months I have rebuilt my gallery with both old and new images. The old ones do not go back more than two years and are probably some that would have been here had I not deleted them. I have done so for a couple of reasons, firstly people can look at my old and present work and decide if I have improved over the last couple of years. All of the renders were created in either Poser Pro 2014 or Poser 11 which I think covers a big chunk of Posers users so the second reason is that people can see what is possible with limited skills, and boy my skills are certainly limited. Final reason would be that many of the products I use are sill available, case is point would be the Master Skin Resource 7 for Dawn from 3Dream. I used this when I created my 'Caoimhe', character which I have been using for story telling for the last four years, it is still on sale and is still as stunning today as it was when I purchased it.

I like the fact that there is no limitation to the uploads, but even then I have generally tried to limit my uploads to four a day as I do not want to swamp the Poser library. There may have been odd days when I have done more than four a day, I really do not know but if I have it would have been four in the early hours of the morning (UK time) and four the same evening.

I am not saying this to upset anyone but as I have got older, like so many others, I have difficulty sleeping and my heath is on a downhill slide which will now doubt continue. Poser keeps my brain active and with the time I have and the way I work, yes I can do more than one render in a day, whether they are good enough upload to the gallery is another story. It may be easy to make a judgement on this issue from a personal point of view and there is nothing wrong in that but it is also your view might be different if your circumstances were to change.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

The really sad part is knowing that excellent images will barely get any views and maybe 2 comments if they're lucky. But the plague of tpose-d, default lighting FF renders get 10+ comments with "AMAZING IMAGE" "WONDERFUL POSE!!!!!@@@!!!!" "BEAUTIFUL RENDER!@&*#@@!!!" and I'm wondering wtf they're actually looking at. It sure isn't the tpose wonders they're supposedly commenting on.

When I had a gallery here in the past that was true and is what I expected now but my experience this time has been a little different. I started uploading to the new gallery at the end of September and now my notifications are close to 350 which I was slightly surprised at but then I am always presently surprised when anyone takes the time to comment on one of my renders. As I have uploaded so many renders that is an average of around three but many have six or more comments (and of course that means a few none at all) and as my renders are never the normal NVIATWAS I am fairly pleased with that. The number of my followers is 31 although some of those may not be active so there is an interest.

Of course many may view and not leave a comment and I am happy with that as all I am trying to do is generate interest in 3D art in general. I have been active in the hobby for over twenty years now and, not only have I loved playing, it has provided a distraction when life has decided to throw a few curve balls. I have been overwhelmed with the help and support I have received in forums such as this and, quite simply, I cannot believe the some of the art I am now able to produce. Of course it is a millions miles away from quality 3D art but anyone looking at what I was producing twenty years ago to what I can produce would be amazed I am sure. More to the point, I am able to illustrate a story with images that bounce around my head which would never see the light of day if it were not for 3D art and the community supporting it.

I think that is why I like the fact that there is the encouragement to upload images, I love seeing what others can do with the same, or similar, software to what I am using. I got interested in the hobby purely by looking at the stunning images in the 3D art galleries and I hope others will be similarly attracted today. To me the more uploads there are the more there is likely to be a variation thus expanding the potential to encourage others to be inspired enough to have a go.

I'm certainly flooding the galleries.

Latest submission was July 14, the previous one was June 29...of 2015.

More's the pity. What ever happened to the Zoe Herriot morph I sent you ? Did you ever render it ?
