That is a very ambitious scene for a first, Jason, and handled quite well! Can hardly wait to see what you'll be doing a few months from now! Welcome to Vue! :) Varian Treasures d'Esprit

That is a super image. Got to figure out how you did that ~G~. Of all the forums here, I have found this one to be the nicest. I've been lurking here for quite awhile. So much I want to figure out. Think I need to lock Varian in a room somewhere and get all Her(think you're a her..if not sorry ~G~) knowledge when it comes to cloth.

Thanks for the impromptu revuew, Sharen. :) Miz O, me be a he, and it's not easy to get me locked in a room...unless of course you put a computer in it! :D As for what I know about cloth, procedural at least, pretty much everything I know has been documented in the forum here since we began this month's Theme & Challenge. So just scroll through and be sure to take notes - LOL! :D

Hey Jason, way to go! Excellent work. And welcome! This is a very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable place. Trust me, I've benefitted greatly from what I've seen and read around here. Larry F

I've been reading them Varian. Don't worry I'm the same. Hubby finally realized the only way he was going to get me out on his boat was by letting me buy a laptop. ~L~ I've been to your page and others, with print outs of Tutorials in hand I'm diving in. Question though, your pic's with the sheets, how do you get the "blanket"? That is mostly likely a really stupid question. ~G~

Jaywat, as I said before, I hate newbies like you in this forum ! (it's a joke... read following lines... ;-)) Some newbies comes simply in this forum with their first tries with vue. And what to say ? Their first tries are simply great ! I'm playing with Vue a long time ago and it took me a long time to have renders like this ! Now, what can I do ? Think that I must work harder on this program ? Welcome you and hoping that we will see some more stuff from you ? OK... continue this good work... continue to enjoy our eyes with this kind of pictures... :-) Errr... Did I say that I'm happy to see you in this forum and I can't wait for your future images ?

Bop ( ) posted Fri, 19 October 2001 at 7:58 PM

No, BloodSong... not to retire... just to make them see that we were here before 'em ! That we rule ! That we still can do so more beautiful things ! That we ... that... errrr... OK, dude, let's retire... ;-)

Great job for your first one! Rich (who wishes even more that he was better at composition)

tradivoro ( ) posted Fri, 19 October 2001 at 9:59 PM

Hey Jay, that's a very nice picture, and pretty amazing for your first one... do you have any previous art experience??

Thanks for all the compliments! Tradivoro : Yes, I'm very much into graphic design - I'm a web designer by trade. But this is much more fun; pure escapism! Attached is a link to an image I've just this moment finished in Vue. It has a small amount of post-processing (for the interlace effect etc). You may need to view it full screen (and high res!) for the full effect. Hope you like it! ;)

MikeJ ( ) posted Sat, 20 October 2001 at 10:51 AM

I hope that's not what it's like where you work. ;) Cool, funny picture...love the post work on it.

jaywat ( ) posted Sat, 20 October 2001 at 11:30 AM

MikeJ : Funny you should say that... it was changes at my place of work that actually inspired the image. Though you can't really see it in the published version, my company logo is actually reflected in the glass at the far side of the room. I have another version of the image where it's much more blatant! I'm sure it'll be circulating round the processing clerks on Monday! ;)
