I've uploaded several scenes with large crowds and I often get asked how do I not have my computer explode. I made up a tutorial for it and posted it here if anyone wants to do a crowd scene. https://www.renderosity.com/mod/tutorial/?tutorial_id=3044

I remember a few years ago, someone over at DAZ posted a render with over 1000 figures in it. As for myself, the most I think I've ever gotten to would be about 15. And if I recall, I only pasted twice to the background. That was just a see if I could do it attempt. I haven't tried since.

I haven't done more than seventy myself. Granted that's seventy people. There were clothing figures and hair figures as well and there were plenty wearing more than one clothing figure. Everyone was fully dressed because I wasn't sure what would show in the camera until I had everything in the final scene. I would like to try more someday but my content and scene hard drive needs some serious defragging first. It would take over an hour to load or save that scene.

Okay, I had a scene in my Android comic at Clark.freehostia.com that had at least ten people in it. They were all clothed and had weapons. Not mention all the props that were in the scene, including the city background itself. There may actually have been other characters that i forgot to delete.

If you're talking about for scene set up, you need to reduce your preview settings and probably turn off shadows. If you're talking about rendering, you may need to use cpu rather than gpu.

More won't fit into memory, I suppose. That's why I I have my trusty Ryzen, works with large scenes as well.
