Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 24 8:11 pm)
There seems to have been a change to the DIM and now it only installs a DSX file, which I'm guessing is to do with the DAZ online content system. I don't know if there is someway of changing this either in the DIM or from your account as I only tried it when someone else in another thread said they couldn't get it to work.
Perhaps someone on the DAZ board might be able to help.

.dsx are various XML files, used by Install Manager both to characterise the zip (placed alongside the zip) and to track installed content (placed in the manifests folder). They are not the content itself,
You select the folder as you do in Poser - the one that contains the Runtime folder is the one you want.
Guess it's just a problem peculiar to me. A while back when DAZ updated their content management system meant I could no longer open DS, just got the message the cms was updating which carried on forever, well at least overnight, so gave up and uninstalled DAZ as best I could, probably screwed something up.
Thanks all for the input. I had given the right path, but I'd given it to the wrong setting. When I rectified it I then got the UAC problem, but really I shouldn't be getting that since the UAC slider is set to the lowest setting. So, I made a copy of the Runtime, stuck it on the Desktop, and pointed the Install Manager to there instead, and now it works!
So things are happening now; I installed V4 Base, V4 Shapes++ (which I'm pretty sure used to be called Morphs++), and V4 Muscle Morphs.
However, I now have a new problem, cause while V4 was added successfully and can be brought into the Poser viewport by double clicking on her, there are just empty placeholders for the "Morphs++" and "Muscle" stuff, there are no actual morphs there even though they were installed exactly the same way as V4. Any ideas what's going on there? Seems really weird that does!
Have you injected the morphs once v4 is in the scene? Every time you load v4 you need to go to the pose tab and find the inj files and apply this "pose" to v4.
If you don't want to do this every time, once you have a v4 in the scene with the morphs loaded save it to your library, best under a different name rather than overwriting your base v4.
Why are you loading content into UAC protected area? All your content should be in the shared folder designated by your Poser install. DIM installation path can be directed to any runtime that is set up under its settings area. I have all my runtimes linked there, I just need to manually tell DIM where to deposit the content. Try to avoid Program Files content installation or else Poser will begin to behave oddly when accessing content from there. And as Nails60 posted, the V4 morphs need to be injected into your V4 figure from the Pose category in your Library. This is a normal process in Poser.
@hborre - I never specifically put it there, Poser did, since the Poser installer gave me a few options as to where to install the Runtime, and I chose the option recommended (by the Poser installer) for the best compatibility. I never had that UAC problem on Windows 7 with the slider set to minimum, but this is Windows 10. I got the morphs installed eventually, I completely forgot about needing to inject them, lol
@RHaseltine - Sounds right, but what is considered the UAC area of Windows 10 anyway? It's not as if I was trying to manually install the stuff there, it was being done by the DAZ Install Manager (which itself already had permission to be there). Anyway, Vicky just insisted I send you a smile from her to show all is working now, you know, just a friendly smile from the famous DAZ girl to the Master DAZ mod. Plus, I just wanted to remind you that my pumeco account is still banned. I was told I'm still welcome to vend at DAZ, but honestly, that's about as useful as a tea strainer without holes in it without being able to promote on the forum!

Just installed Poser 10 and am trying to get my content installed again. I downloaded that irritating installation manager from DAZ, have gone into preferences, and have located the path by navigating to the Runtime folder for Poser 10. So then I download the products I want, it works fine. Then I install the downloaded products and again, it works fine. Or at least it seems to until I start Poser and find that the content I just installed is nowhere to be seen. Even if I take a look at the Runtime folder itself, nothing has been installed in any of the correct subfolders.
I am setting the right path, aren't I? Pretty sure I always used to choose the Runtime folder as the installation path before, so I haven't a bloody clue why it's not actually installing any of the content. I can even see the progress bar moving as the installation is running, so it looks as if it's doing what it's supposed to, but it isn't doing so!
