Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 26 1:43 pm)
I would like to see a cycles color ramp node also. However, at what expense to us would including these nodes be if something else gets broken in the program. I know the programmers are spending quite a bit of time trying to give us as best a product they can deliver. Let's hope we get very pleasant surprizes when P12 makes its appearance.
Hi.
We have goals for Poser 12, but some of those goals are still in the research phase and thus, premature to discuss publicly. As things firm up, we will communicate via the Poser blog as usual. That said, it's safe to assume that improved rendering, ease of use and continued code modernization will be top goals.
Thank you for your interest in the upcoming Poser 12, and as always your continued support of Poser over the years.

AMD ProRender Engine.
There is already a Cycles Plug available (Made for Blender)
is GPU neutral - it will use AMD GPUs, Nvidia GPUs.
Will also use X86 CPUs.
. . AMD did alot of the grunt work in getting the Prorender engine ready for Blender, including providing a half a gigabyte material preset library.
The did the same for their C4D version as they are competing Directly with NVIDIA using the prorender engine to foment AMD hardware sales as NVIDIA does with Iray.
Prorender uses an Uber shader(see pic) that does a pretty decent conversion from the true Principled BSDF when the Prorender engine is chosen instead cycles or EEVEE.
Unless Bondware can convince AMD to give them a similar "legup" for posers Cycles build ,such as it is, they will have to code the ProRender port themselves using the Available SDK.
Blender already has a Principled BSDF shader for Cycles. So the code for that should already be available for Poser to use. I'm tryng to give Bondware the benefit of the doubt being as they are new owners, however, everytime I wish for something, someone, (I won't say who) connected with Renderosity chimes it to say Poser has a small dev team and can't be bothered with that. Like I said in another post, I'm not really looking for new features at this point for the next Poser, but as Jenn has already said, improved rendering and EASE OF USE for the features it already has.
I WANT THIS !!!! ???

in the meantime there is always my free shader. Does much of what the PS does in Blender. If you have questions about it's use, just ask me.

Thought I'd throw this out to the general forum.
Since Superfly is based on Cycles. Many of us are hope to see the new features of Cycles come out in the Poser 12 release.
What is the low-down on these? Can we expect to see these in the next issue of Poser?
