Subject: Can't make a complete body movement in Poser 11 trial version

Ekezman ( ) posted Mon, 11 May 2020 at 1:34 AM · edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 1:18 AM

I have been trying to simulate a complete body movement (like hand waving) on Poser 11 trial version, but only half of the movement gets shown on the key frame. Is it possible that the Poser trial version doesn't allow it or could I be doing sth wrong?

Is skip frames on? Click this little button to turn off skip frames. image.png

The animation will play slower than real time but will play all frames.

Are you following this tutorial? This explains the basics. Poser Pro 11 Tutorial: Animation

Hi tsoren, thx for the quick reply. I tried it again following your instruction, but it's still not working. I made a short video of the problem but can't seem to upload it here. Do u have an E-mail or a place I can send u the vid?, so u can clearly see what I mean.

So you can move the body, but the keys just dont get created?

I do not have a place to upload files. Maybe post it to YouTube, with limited rather than public access if you prefer, and then post the link here. I'm just a Poser user who has found answers in this forum so I'm putting my comments where I think they will help out. Following that same logic it is helpful to have complete information in each thread for future reference and for others who may have the same issue.

If you follow just that 5 minute section of that video where the hand wave is created, you should see the same results with nearly the same information shown in the animation palette. What part of that result is different from what you get? Do you get the frames (green boxes) in the palette? Does the hand wave in one direction but not back? Does the frame scrubber (the little blue triangle on the timeline) move through the full range of frames?

Notice, to set keyframes on a specific frame, you must first go to the frame by clicking on the timeline or putting the frame number into the Frame: text box. If you do not change the frame then any movement you do will just overwrite the current frame information. That will show up as missing green boxes on that animation palette, Keyframes tab.

Ekezman ( ) posted Wed, 13 May 2020 at 12:18 PM

Yes I know. My initial movement doesn't even get played fully although I pick the timeframe. It's kinda weird and I just can't figure out since several days why this happens.

tsoren ( ) posted Wed, 13 May 2020 at 3:06 PM

You can manually cycle through the frames by clicking on the blue triangle and moving your mouse left and right. If when doing that you do not see your full motion then the key frames are not set. Go to the frame where you expect to see but are not seeing motion and try to set keyframes again by moving the arm. Repeat the manual moving of the scrubber (blue triangle).

If you see the motion you expect when manually scrubbing but not when the play button is pressed, then turn the skip frames option off OR render the animation. image.png With skip frames on playback will skip frames in order to produce a real time speed. With skip frames off it will play each frame even if that makes the animation play slower than real-time.

I can move the body but the keyframe plays only half of the movement created.

Have you checked the bottom of the Animation Palette? You can set the play range. For example you can have 100 frames and set to only play a portion. Sometimes I accidentally click this.
