Subject: Poser Updates forever

Their been two updates for Poser 11-Pro, that I known off for the last year. 11.3.816, and now today version "11.3.818". But each time I download, it takes forever. I go elsewhere to download files, and download done in seconds. But from posersoftware.com/download, a 1.4GB will take up to two days, leaving the computer on. Sometimes I will pause' download if I am done with PC for a bit, then when I return, I continue download. But today...I am getting "failed" Are they still using dial-up server?

Took me less than 2 minutes to download, that's usually my mileage.

Same as hborre. A few minutes.

I dunno. Guess it is only me. Last time took 2 days. Today, I get failed. Goes up to 0.1GB (holding at that number for 10 minutes), then failed. I resume (after the failed), then I get failed, forbidden. .

Guess I have to live without update, even though after Windows 10 update, poser 11-pro been having problems.... Frustrated

Downloaded fine here. I have a fast connection and it probably took 2 minutes max.

Is it possible that you might have to reboot your router after the Windows update?

Robo2010 ( ) posted Sat, 13 June 2020 at 8:18 PM

Was able to download. Many attempts, constant cleaning "google chrome", rebooting router. Was getting failed constantly. Then one more try, not moving the mouse or anything. As if downloading the file was fragile (if I browsed internet, played solitaire while waiting, or playing in Blender). I have no trouble with downloading files anywhere else, only from posersoftware website. I dunno why. But can be frustrating. Thanks to those replying.

This sounds similar to a problem another user was having on the Reason forum that I frequent. Ultimately the issue was that his ISP was timing out and loosing connection with the download server. First thing I'd check is if you are on some hinky wireless connection in your house. My machine is connected to the router with a cable. No WIFI issues that way. Second thing to check would be your connection with your ISP.

I just downloaded the latest updates, and it didn't take long at all. That said, like ghostship2, I don't use WiFi, and I just recently (like Tuesday) got a new CAT6 Ethernet cable because the old CAT5 connector to my laptop kept loosening, and I would lose connection to the Internet until I pushed it back in. It was old, so I got the new, faster, cable and the average download time while I was getting the latest Poser 11 download was between 7 and 8 Mbps, which is better than the 2+ Mbps I used to get with the CAT5.

I've also found, over the years, it depends on what time of day I do the downloading. I usually do much better before I log off for the night (think between midnight and 1:30am), than I do during the day, probably because there are fewer folks trying to download the files at the same time. I've found that at a lot of different sites, so I don't think it's a specific Poser Software site issue.

I don't have problems downloading either, and I use wireless. You have plenty of download space on your drive, right? And no download data limit per day set somewhere (not sure where something like that would be)?
