Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 22 9:27 pm)
If you don't mind moving the figure afterwards the Pose dot can be a quick method
Make sure inverse kinematics is off on the target figure
Select the figure you want to copy the pose from
Find the Dots window (see below)
By default it will be "UI Dots" - change it to Pose
Click of one of the empty dots (dark grey in above). This should change colour to indicate the pose has been saved
Select the target figure and then click on the dot you saved the pose to
This will also move the figure so you will need to reposition afterwards
To clear a pose dot, select "alt" key and click on dot

If you tell me how I can do that, I would be happy...
Okay I see Iron Soul has told you about Pose Dots. So I will include this information from the Poser Reference Library found on page 241.
I will then tell you that saving to the Pose library is pretty easy.
Make sure you select the proper Library to save in. In this case The Pose library is the one highlighted in yellow.
Notice at the bottom there are two symbols with Plus signs. The folder with a plus sign indicates a collection you want to add that pose to. The large plus sign means you want to just add that pose. We'll select that one.
Now you will get a message window asking you to name that pose.
You will also need to select a subset for the pose. This will present you with a list of bodyparts that you want to include in the pose. If you leave any of the body parts out it will not be added to the pose. After that simply follow the instructions of each dialogue window as it is presented to you.
Be aware, saving a pose for a particular figure does not necessarily mean it can be applied to all other figures. V4 to V4, Miki to Miki, all fine but try applying V4 to Le Femme and you may get some displacement of the hands and/or feet. Easily correctable but frustrating if you have applied it to multiple figures.
Selecting subset body parts isn't necessary if you just want to save the pose as is. Just click ok and the pose will be saved. Selecting subset is necessary for the creation of partial poses.
If you check include morph channels it will save the dial values of any morphs currently present and dialed to values other than 0. Be aware that a pose saved with include morph channels checked applied to another figure will only work properly if those morphs are present in the figure you are applying the pose to. It simply transfers dial values that you saved to like morph dials in a figure. So if you save a pose for V4 with her pregnant morph active at a value of 0.500 and wish to copy that to another version of V4 via pose, the new V4 must have that Pregnant morph dial present for the preset "posed" value to be applied to.
Include Body Transformations checked will apply any transforms of the body actor in the scene. So, if your pose was a flying pose and your figures Body was translated along the Y axis, floating in the air, that translation will be saved with the pose and applied to a figure when the pose is applied.

I have just experienced exactly that problems. I tested it with the same figures and today with another one. Even if I don't click on anything, the body mass indexes are copied with the pose. For example, if I have reduced head size or made the face old, it's copied too along with the pose. Can you please tell me how I can save only the pose without ANY body morphs or body changes that I applied to the original figure? Sorry if I don't understand clearly what you wrote above, I'm no native English speaker...
We could really use an information page somewhere which lists all the base Poser figures, alongside what pose-sets from others figures work with it. e.g.: Robo Kitty -> takes V4 poses.

Uncheck morph channels and scales.

Yes, it definitely affects the target figures as all scales are transferred from the saved pose, too. I already tried to re-install Poser 11 as the English version, as I think it's maybe a bug in the German version but whenever I try to install it new, I get the German again altough I deleted all traces of the previous installation. Can you tell me where to report it to Poser?

Hi, I want to copy a pose I made with one figure to another one, from V4 to V4 and M4. Also from Miki4 to Miki4. Is there a way how to do it? Thanks and best, Tobias
