Subject: Poser and Daz Files

Hi, I have a lot of files from Daz studio , and some won't install in the runtime so Poser won't see them .... is there a way ( other than importing them with the dson importer ) to make Poser see those files outside the runtimes ? ... thank you very much for your time ^_^

No. Poser libraries are in Runtimes.

you could export them from daz studio as fbx - and import them into poser, then save them into your library

Before we get ahead of ourselves, what files are they? Current files? Genesis files? Prop files? If you can be specific, it would make it easier to provide the correct answer.

I have a similar question, is it's not too OT... What's the process for converting DS format models (props) to OBJ. There's some really nice genesis props and headdresses that I would buy in a second if I could convert them for use in Poser... like this for instance. Not worried about the materials or corrections needed... is it possible?

Yes it is possible, if you have daz studio, you can export as an OBJ, or you could use d3d's DSF toolbox.

Hi structure. Yes, I spoke with a forum member via PM who's experienced with DS and was told the same thing. Obj or cr2. I think I'll finally install DS simply as a content translation tool, for now. More options are always nice...

Thanks for responding.

Careful with that. I intended my usage of DS to only be for exporting stuff to Poser but I walked away from my entire Poser runtime after getting used to DS's interface and I haven't touched P11 in months since the switch to DS full time. I didn't expect that would ever happen and certainly not after 10+ years of being in the Poser community and acquiring an extensive product library while having to start from scratch in a new program. I was wrong, kind of shocked after thinking about it but not regretful because Studio is the better option for me right now.

You have opted for a different computer software product as a consumer in a free market economy.

I was a Maxon Cinema4D and Poser user, for 20+ years on Mac OS.

I was the founder of the original "12 poser animators" (old inside joke from the poser 4 days),?

I did alot of paid commercial animation work with poser animations rendered in C4D.

That IMDB listing , in my forum sig, is from,a Pose6 animation commission for a funded indie Hollywood film.

Then Daz offered a different option with the non poser compatible Genesis figures and the aniMate nonlinear motion building system with graphmate/keymate.

While posers animation tools languished in a late 1990's time warp. ( to say nothing of the less than stellar poser native figures)?

So I switched to Daz studio .

As time passed I discovered the realtime Character animation software by Reallusion Called Iclone that could import my Daz figures and let me animate them with superior tools and export the BVH motion back to Daz studio.

Alas Iclone is Windows only..sooooo..Bye bye Mac OS.?

I spent six years creating a 93 minute feature length, Marvel Fan film "Galactus Rising" using Iclone/Daz studio/Maxon C4D During which time I learned to model my own Daz clothing content

Meanwhile the Blender Foundation finally released a version of Blender that largely conformed to industry standard interface conventions(2.8x) While the aging behemoth from Maxon moved to an Autodesk style subscription model.?

Suddenly Reallusion created Character creator 3 pipeline that will convert any Daz Mill 3,4 ,Genesis 1,2,3,8 Figure to a look alike Iclone native Avatar(via advanced shape projection) including clothing and Skins.?

Daz instantly Declared Reallusion an enemy of the state and made any discussion of the Reallusion software forbidden on their forums. ☹️

After migrating my favorite Daz figures & content over to CC3/Iclone I have left the DAZ ecosystem entirely and moved from Maxon C4D to Blender 2.8x, as my content creation an final rendering environment.

As creatives we have to be willing to evolve as our creative tools evolve.
