Subject: Using Camera Dots in different files in Power 11

DocMatter ( ) posted Sat, 08 August 2020 at 1:52 PM · edited Mon, 23 December 2024 at 12:21 PM

I've set my camera dots to memorize various camera positions in a particular scene I've created. I've noticed that those camera dots carry over to other files i open where I'd like to use a different set of camera positions. Is there a way to do this without losing the original dots? In other words, can I have a different set of dots for different files? Thanks in advance.

Unless otherwise, I don't think the dots are saved with the pz3 files. They may be exclusive to the UI settings.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. I know Netherworks has a camera utility but want to first see if it works in Poser 11 and on a Mac before I invest.

And BTW... I'm using Poser 11, not Power 11. Sigh!. My typing skills are deteriorating exponentially as I get older.

If you are doing a still image use the frames of the document to represent the various camera views. For example the Head shot is in frame one, the 3/4 Shot in frame 2, Interesting angel in frame 3. You get the idea.

As I understand it you have a set of camera positions saved to dots, and then want to restore the dots when the scene is re-opened much later in time.

Free at ShareCG is the PoserPython script "Export Poser Cameras and Lights", which saves Poser camera co-ordinates out to an XML file.

Free at ImpWorks are a set of Vue "Python scripts for loading and saving camera data to and from .CSV files. These scripts are useful for moving camera animations between scenes.”

Possibly either or both of these scripts might give a Python expert a quickstart on getting a new Poser script made, to make some kind of "save/restore camera positions" script which would do what you want? Either via the dots, or perhaps a new mini-panel?

Great ideas everyone! I just had another one as well. Set up a spotlight and point it where I want my camera, turn the light off, but use its camera as needed.
