Subject: Aline Hair for test

Hello,

Here the first hair created with an integrated simulator. This product has been created for Genesis 8 Female. The future products will certainly be done for more characters. This hair is very simple but it is the first of a set of hair I want to do using the same concept. The product contains a "Simulation" part which starts a limited VWD program. The principle is:

  • to select the simulation method,
  • to import the collision actors, and to press on the "Simulate" button in the interface. The dynamic product will be imported and the simulation will start automatically. There are some tutorials showing how to work with the product. These links are in the Readme file.

For the people who does not have the VWD program, it is important to install the VWD plugin in Daz Studio. If you have some issues, please tell me.

When I created this product, I tried to add a few simulation methods.this This list is enough for simple simulations but I ask you to tell what would be the kinds of simulation to add in this simulation list. For example, tell me if you think it would be useful to add a simulation with a wind force.

All your feedbacks will be very helpful for the future products. Thank you if you accept to particapate to the project. I think the future of VWD is in part in it.

Here is the link to the product :

Hello,

The final structure of the hair is in development. My aim is to define a "perfect" size for the width and the length of the hair segments.

A hair generator is already in development. it will allow to generate hair with always the same structure size. This method will also allow to generate precise simulations with a already known behaviour. The modification of the stiffness by extension will allow to create soft or stiff hair. The modification of the stiffness by neighborhood will allow to create free or sticky hair.

For me, these parameters will be selected at the beginning of the simulation process. The user will not have to select complex settings to manage to create sophisticated simulations.

The current "Aline hair" has not been created using the final hair generation. I certainly will generate another test hair soon to show the final result of this development.

Please, don't focus on the quality of this hair, just focus on the concept.... for now.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Gérald, I downloaded the hair and did a quick test. I'll download the dress one too and going to do a bit more testing beyond static. I'll let you know my thoughts when I'm done.

Hello Surody,

Thanks a lot for your tests.

About the hair, you can do some tests with many characters. If you want to apply a pose or an animation on the character, you just have to define the head of the character as parent of "Aline hair" and reset the XYZ position to zero.

I'm looking forward to your results.

Hello,

I suppose some users downloaded the product.

This product is not here to be perfect, I want to validate the concept to sold a product with its simulator. I need your help to define the best way to reach this goal.

If you don't like the product, please tell me why. For me, it is very interesting too.

Thank you for your help.

  Gérald

I tested the hair again and the simulation is decent but I have 2 improvement suggestions:

I used a quite jumpy catwalk animation ( https://www.mixamo.com/#/?page=1&query=catwalk ) and I noticed that the hair doesn't have enough weight, it moves too much. I guess this is fixable with a higher air resistance value? I also noticed collission issues with the hair. Everytime the character hops slightly and the hair flies up and falls down it goes through the character. Is that fixable with higher collission iterations?

It's a test product so I assume it's not supposed to look perfectly but for real products in the future I would wish for appearances close to the OOT gallery: https://www.daz3d.com/outoftouch or something like the Linday products: https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-virgin-hair-for-genesis-8-females

Hello Surody,

Thank you again for these hair tests.

Yes, this hair test is far to be perfect and It does not correspond to my current meshing definition. I am working on a new hair generator and all the hair I will do will have this new meshing structure and size.

I want to do some new hair for tests and send them to the forum or in the freestuffs and I will take care to correct the errors you told me. My latest video on Youtube with "Bettany hair" has been made with these new settings.

I do not know if I will be able to generate hair with the same quality than Out Of Touch's ones but I will try to do my best to be as close as possible to these hair but with the ability to behave perfectly with VWD simulations.

These new hair will not use the same simulation and rendering method than new Daz strand hair because the simulation will be made on a meshing structure, not on a wires. But I hope we will be able to do very good animations and renderings.
