Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
I doubt it. I think they are referring to the material room overhaul which is render engine specific. They probably streamlined some things with the material room and made some improvements to Superfly integration.

I am curious about the unimesh hints. It seems to be the path to leaving the Poser welding stuff in the past.

What exactly is the Path Palette? I've never heard of that before. Is that something an end user would use, or just something vendors use while in the process of getting their products ready for beta testing and/or Quality Control testing?

I'll go out on a limb about the path palette stuff. From what I gather, and I'm just guessing from various comments I've encountered recently as I was away from Poser for the years leading up to Poser being sold to Bondware, is that the path feature of Poser was a feature added by SM devs when SM outsourced their dev team when Poser 11 was being born. Apparently this feature wasn't well implemented. Bondware is attempting to clean up various boo boos made by SM at that time.
I may be wrong but like I said just guessing...

"Also, what to they mean by "unimesh support"? Is that LaFemme and L'Homme now, or does it refer to the DAZ unimesh figures?"
Its referring to the new skinning option in Poser. Yes LF LH are unimesh figures. It's involved with subdivision and how, essentially, Poser handles body part groupings. Poser traditional skinning sees body parts as separate objects split into groups related to a like named bone's influence. There's some welding routine internally in Poser that works the magic with this. Poser Unimesh sees the figure mesh as a whole rather than separate welded groups. Figures that are to be subdivided within Poser need to utilize unimesh skinning. Also Poser's reliance on this body part groups welding thingy causes a lot of problems with various import/export translations to other apps, the creation of seamless FBM, etc... Hence GoZ. That's the gist anyway...

Daz unimesh meant that all the figures; V4, M4, etc, are based on the same mesh.

Ahhh, that's why I'm not familiar with it. Thanks, as I've never done any animation in Poser, but now that you mention it, it makes sense.

All updates to Superfly material room menus or rendering would be welcome, as I'm struggling with anything more than the 'simple' stuff. I've sorta grasped how to set 'super ambiance', though much iteration is required. Nodes remain a mystery...
FWIW, I'm itching for info on the improved FBX I/O, as it could save me having to rip a **lot ** of FBX models to OBJ then manually re-rig...
IMHO, Poser_11 seems happy with any FBX version_6.1 model's rig, but rarely with now-common FBX v_7.4. I've recently seen a v_7.5...
Interesting. I never noticed the Path Palette! I use tracked or pathed movement often for trains and neurons and currents. I've built a variety of PYs to accomplish specific types of tracking. Even if I'd noticed the internal feature, I probably would have continued using my custom scripts, so I won't be bothered by its removal.
The bigger question, which Bondware still hasn't answered, is BUGS. HAVE THEY FIXED ANY GODDAMN BUGS AT ALL? Doesn't sound like it.

FaceRoom go away - good. Path Palette go away - good. And just use the term "post-render de-noising". How about Unreal Engine add-on for interoperability ? FBX format handling improvement - very good. Cycles Root Surface shader tree system remains - very good. What about Dynamic Cloth and Dynamic Hair ? No word if any improvements or changes.

Sounds like it's the end of the Face Room as well.
I hope not using the Download Manager remains an option. I still don't care for DAZ's, though I've been forced to use it because so many of their zip files are corrupt.
Also, what to they mean by "unimesh support"? Is that LaFemme and L'Homme now, or does it refer to the DAZ unimesh figures?
