Subject: Camera Controls, Parameter Dials Freeze and Weird Renders

Thebes ( ) posted Fri, 18 September 2020 at 5:22 AM · edited Tue, 29 October 2024 at 3:00 PM

Hi. I've had something weird happen lately in Poser Pro 11. Often a camera will freeze during certain documents. Using the camera controls and parameter dials have limited effect. I crank up the sensitivity and nothing happens. A new document works just fine.

Problem 2 Weird Renders. FireFly gives distorted renders. SuperFly works fine. What have I messed up? Will deleting the pref files fix everything?

Thanks, Thebes

For the distortion, you need to turn off the smoothing for the object. Some objects do that with smoothing. On the properties tab, uncheck smooth polygons.

For the cameras, I've found that happens when the camera settings get rather large, usually the scale. I mostly see it with the directional cameras (top etc.) The fix is to reset that camera. make sure the problem camera is active (you're looking through it) and choose edit>restore>camera

Oh. Thank you so very much. These problems were driving me crazy!

The reason the Superfly render looks normal is that the render engine does not recognize smoothing at all. In the future, try rendering without smoothing until you grasp an understanding of which parameters may look best in your final image.
