Thank you!! Odd little story ... Back in the early 2000's I took a class on Lightwave. My last assignment was to model a butterly, rig it and create a flight path in a scene. Your butterfly is remarkably better than mine!!
Aw, thank you, Boni. Lightwave was a really great package at one time. It used to be the most used software for visual effects in broadcast TV back in the late 90s and early 2000s. You don't happen to still have your old renders or animations of that assignment do you? I'd have loved to see it. I really love looking at vintage CG, even student works or amateur works, from back in the early days of CGI. Not that the early 2000s are "the early days" so to speak, but it's still very cool to see work done with the software of that era.

Hi, everyone. I just uploaded my rigged butterfly model in .blend format (fully rigged and optimized for Eevee or Cycles rendering), as well as OBJ. The obj version is available in the download zip. The .blend version is ready to render and animate. If you aren't into animation, you can still use the bones to "pose" the model. Just select the rig, then go into Pose mode. The antenna and legs have IK controllers for easier posing. Just select the IK controllers at the ends of the legs or antenna and use the grab tool (G) to move them into position. If anyone has any questions about animating or using the rig, let me know. Also let me know if you find any issues with the rig or the .blend file in general. Have Fun!
