Subject: copy -paste layers

how can i copy a layer from one image to another but paste it in exactly the same position? thnks

i'm not sure just what you're trying to accomplish.if everything is the same size in the 2nd image or if it's a duplicate of the original. what you can do is set up guides in the second image--turn off snap to--and place the pasted within the guides.

but isn't a faster way to do it like Flash which has CTRL+SHIFT+V =paste in place

again, i can't see what you're trying to do. are you working on like images in separate windows? pshop pastes a selection in exactly the same place if you just select--> copy--> paste. the duplicate layer rides on top of the original. so i don't see what you're trying to do.

Another thing you can try, drag the layer from the layers pallette of the original image onto the new image holding down the Shift key, this would drop the layer in the center of the new image. Hope it helps :) Luthor.
