Man, trying to relearn carrara. I want C4D but I don't like renting apps. especially if I may have to miss a payment here and there. May give Blender another try, I've been told the interface has been normalized lol Carrara still works as well as it did when DAZ abandoned it. Bug here bug there usually with genesis stuff. My main issue is the snail slow render engine.

About got my 120 gig sorted so the scenes I have been working on will load to be worked. May just start dumping them on the gallery here lol Most look like commercials for the content in scene, so...

I was working on a couple of Cg short novellas lol One a love story and one a zombie story. Now that my time is mine, and winter is coming, I can work on this stuff. Been told I need to be more sedentary.

Get it all fired up again - it might spark me into more too LOL! I still have a deep love for Carrara (I barely scratch the surface of what it is capable of doing) but I've been toying with using Daz Studio and/or Blender and/or Poser too. Daz is still leaving me cold though because of a) how they abandoned their Carrara base and b) MOST of their products these days don't work well in Carrara OR Poser. Still figuring all this stuff out, just not enough time to do much, and NO you are not the only one in the straits you outlined. Take care, good to see one of the old guard getting active again!

Stan You may be able to get an older copy of C4D off of eBay.

I picked up one years ago & did learn some things. Unlike you, my time isn't really my own, so sitting down & learning something from scratch is not feasible right now.

Carrara works as good as it ever did under DAZ. Tried exporting an FBX to Blender and it got mangled. FBX is what? 6 years out of date? Carrara works fine with DAZ content up to G3; G2 can be iffy. But 120 gig Why would I need more content? Is Genesis 237 better then 2?

And wouldn't AC GEGgazebo look better with a wood grain bump?

Really makes a man feel like a dinosaur. Sort of wish Maxon would buy Carrara from DAZ and just fix the bugs and update the render engine.

dforce? I've been out of the loop for about 5 years? 4 years? Right now I'm trying to reteach myself soft cloth in carrara.

Ya, optitex was nice and the devs were cool; they saw my work and gave me the Betty Page collect O.O All was going well till DAZ, well... DAZed it. They broke the file export I was using to get the clothing animations from Studio to Carrara. I was told the falling out was because DAZ wanted exclusivity in the sales of the dynamic clothing sets and optitex said "no". $15 a pop for genesis 8 sets, and no export to carrara? Not going to worry with it. Wouldn't any of it work in carrara anyway. Nothing DAZ has made since G2 works in carrara. I've always found Studio as frustrating to use as Blender. Wasn't the point to genesis not to have to rebuy everything every 2-3 years when a new figure build comes out. Yet DAZ has released a new figure every year for the last 8. Oh do not get me started on DAZ, they are why I quit doing this.
