Please see Release_Notes.txt on the downloads page for change history.

I read the release notes. You added a Principle volume node, then promptly disabled it. I'll be honest, I'm still willing to wait and see, but so far, not really seeing a reason to upgrade. Plus, I use Blender. What's the point of making it in Blender if I can't get it to look right in Poser?

Thanks Tim and team, for all the work you guys have put into this and how helpful you've been to this ol' geezer :)

You know, I haven't skipped a version of Poser since P5. In fact, except for 1 3 and 5, I haven't skipped a version of Poser at all. From the looks of things, SO FAR, I might be adding P12 to that list. Still, it's early in the release, and they might surprise me.

Yes its very buggy but there going to be up dateing it regularly this is its first. O and it renders Fast I'm just using my CPU.

I'm taking a "wait and see" attitude at the moment. Apparently, I have to, because no will address my questions about missing nodes. Yes, I want Poser to render faster, but I want it to recreate, as closely as possible, anything I make in Blender using Cycles. It's hard or next to impossible to do that when certain nodes you need to use are missing, or disabled. Don't want to add the nodes, fine, give me a decent workaround.

It may come as a great shock to you, but Bondware doesn't actually work for you.

You would probably be happier making Blender the heart of your workflow.

EClark1894 ( ) posted Tue, 10 November 2020 at 2:39 PM

If you're addressing me, I've never said or intimated that Bondware works for me. But yeah, making Blender the heart of my work flow would make me happy. Making items IN Blender that work and look correctly IN Poser would make me happier still. Now if Renderosity/ Bondware has a problem with that philosophy, they can tell me.

If you are looking for curves or color ramps nodes as in Blender, those you won't find in P12. However, PrincipleBsdf and PrincipleHairBsdf nodes have been added and are similar to those found in Blender.

From what I read in the release notes, the Principled Bsdf has been temporarily disabled. If you're going to leave something out would hurt to either explain why or at the very least come up with a decent workaround.

And for the record, I never said i wasn't getting P 12. But yes, I am taking a wait and see attitude.

That Node will be back once it is working.

from what I've been able to tell so far the anisotropic node is the node that does not work and anisotropy is not working inside of the PBSDF or Principled hair BSDF. this will all get fixed.

Is anisotropic not working correctly or not at all in PBSDF? I am getting some response from it but I haven't investigated any further to its accuracy.

Richardphotos ( ) posted Fri, 13 November 2020 at 11:20 AM

except for new features will Poser 12 be basically the same as 11.3.3?

Richardphotos ( ) posted Fri, 13 November 2020 at 11:29 AM

I am looking for more ease in placing runtime items. the old Poser 11 was very easy to handle. I realize that new versions can not be the same as previous smith micros versions.

a lot of users have had no problems with sitting Poser 11.3.3 up, but I have and that is why I have held off purchasing new Poser products from the marketplace.

I am no stranger to Poser since I have been using since Poser 4 pro and I love using Poser very much and the products available here. I want Poser 12.0 but if am unable to place the runtime items, it does not seem right to spend money on something that I can only do basic renders

thanks for relies

Not sure what you mean by "place runtime items?" please explain.

@hborre anything that uses anisotropy is borked at the moment anistropicBSDF, Principled BSDF and principled hair bsdf all use anisotropic reflections.

If you mean installing new products, it's the same as it was before. File -->Install from Zip File. If you mean adding runtimes you already had, it is the same as it was before. Use the little library sign with the + over it to add runtimes you already had in previous Poser versions. For maximum control, manual unzipping is also available as before.

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 13 November 2020 at 1:16 PM

If you mean the new built-in installer...it's very easy. You log in with your Renderosity ID and password, and it will show you the items you've purchased. You can download and install them from right in Poser.

I don't like it because you can't put things into different runtimes; they all go into one runtime. However, the old way of installing things still works. You don't have to use the new installer. If you prefer, you can do it exactly the way you did it with Poser 11.

Richardphotos ( ) posted Fri, 13 November 2020 at 7:44 PM

(placing runtime items) said that wrong. I just mean installing products in the correct place so Poser can utilize them. I did not know anything back when I started with Poser 4 and wonder if I know anything more now.

thanks for your response

The Install form Zip places everything correctly (unless you have a DAZ item).

randym77 ( ) posted Fri, 13 November 2020 at 10:02 PM

And even DAZ items install from zip just fine if you're on Windows.
