Poser 12 F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Oct 22 2:54 pm)
Welcome to the Poser Forums! Need help with these versions, advice on upgrading? Etc...you've arrived at the right place!

Guess which one is rendered using P12 and which one with P11. Except for the capsule, all are using VinceBagna's shaders guaranteed: unmodified:
Apart from the opportunity to start to explore the mat room:
Of course, P12 is still in early access, but updates are really more often (already 2 since the start of the early access)

It's going to take at least 1 year for the important Python scrits to be updated or replaced. So you're going to need to hold on to Poser 11 for at least this long. But for all the new things and the big speed improvements in Poser 12 you'll want it anyway. Why not jump in now and enjoy the fun of finding all the new things people discover. Check whatever you find interesting and learn new things. Follow the discussions and experiment, learn by doing. In a few years you can become one of the experts. Right now is the time to learn together with all the other users.
@jfbeute is right: you may even keep both Poser versions running at the same time. The test I did has been created in P12, saved, and then reloaded by P11, while P12 was still running. I reloaded the mats from within P11 just to be sure, but I didn't save the scene using P11. Just keep in mind: only one Poser computing at the same time. So that you can still use the scripts you need from P11, save either in a scene or in one of the shared libraries and then used in P12.

Today I am experimenting with simple Lights and shaders. Way better than Poser 11 in My opinion. Here a simple studio test. studio Background with simple shader, Principle BSDF, 3 Area lights and the Hig res. ball with emission shader. Rendertime 3 minutes.

Thanks MissB. I am really very happy with my Poser 12 upgrade. Today I will test out different emission objects . Modeled a simple room with emission props yesterday in Blender, today I test it in Poser. (Have to make it Poser ready Will post results later. :)

― Marcus Aurelius,
Just one Point light at the size of 400 %. The emitting shader is set to strength 2. No other light sources are used here. My conclusion after a day test, the lights improved really in the quality.

Hello everyone.
I've been keeping an eye on the Poser 12 forum since the update was launched and wondering about buying the new one. I use Poser 11 and while I've used it for a few years now I am still a complete newbie about it. I don't know how to create or modify shaders, or do some of the more technical things people here do. My poser usage is limited to rendering very basic figures/scenes as a base, and then heavily working on them on Photoshop and CSP. I just purchase the shaders/figures I feel I need and apply them without further modification.
I've read superfly materials no longer work, and I make extensive use of VinceBagna's materials. I would have no idea how to create new ones should those stop working. So I am wondering. Is worth getting poser 12 now for an user like me?
