Then Bondware should darn well state it will run on Win7! Every other software company does. I just bought Substance Painter and installed it on 7 and they list their minimums as 7 or 10. Why does Bondware have to make everything so painful and stupid? Just because Microsoft no longer supports the OS does not make it dead - quite clearly - and do you know how many of us see "10" and just move along? This statement on the part of Bondware is like shooting yourself in the foot for Win7 sales. Get it together, people!
The problem with stating it runs on a out of date OS is that you are implying that you are going to keep it running on that version in the future. If there is massive security update to Windows 10 that requires a re-write of portions of the code, then you would have to make changes for Windows 10 and put in a sub-part of the older versions to keep it running as you promised it would. However if you say that Windows 10 is the minimum and it happens to run in a prior version then you got lucky.

Suck it up and get a new computer or update your OS. Why should the rest of us be stuck with sub-par software because three people had to keep running Windows XP.
No I'm not going to suck it up and get a new computer for you. Spend your own money.

And, I was just going to push that "buy now" button but not now. I use Windows 7, have 2 AMD processors, 128 GIG Ram, a GTX 1080TI and am quite happy with it.
That's a little extreme and quite pathetic that you'd not upgrade a program you use because some random guy on the internet and one that was not even talking to you said something that hurt your feelings. let me know when you are done with the hyperbole.

So just get it then, you can run it with your system. This is the internet , and your not new to this. who cares what he said to whoever he said it to, pretty sure it wasnt a personal attack just facts, he is right , getting into 3D can get expensive if you wanna keep up with the latest tech out, And it does get kind of annoying reading post by people who refuse to update to modern standards and then complain, just saying , but you can still run it on your system.
since you wont buy a new PC for him, will you buy me a new PC ? lol just kidding get it if you want or not, that choice should be made by you because you want to and not what someone said on a forum.

I'm running on Windows 7x64 Ultimate SP1, Ryzen7 2700, 32gb ram, RTX2080ti and a 1080ti as a secondary card, both 11gb models. So far the only issue I've run into is OptiX fails to render. Something I'm wondering about though, Poser11 would use both my 1080ti and 2080ti together, but 12 lists both cards separately and there is no option to use both at the same time. Any idea why this might be?

Turns out the Optix failing was down to my graphic driver. Updated and Optix works fine. I dont get the option for Optix on my 2080ti when running under windows 10 though, only 7?
Just in case: Poser 12.0.287 + RTX2080TI + last NVidia's Studio driver run fine on my Win10Pro with both options:

No money needed; you can still update from 7 to 10 for free...

Thanks for the suggestion but I don't want Windows 10 at all. I'm happy with 7 and have learned how to hack it to my hearts content. Too much big brother with 10 :)
But again, thanks
I'm still amazed at how many people cling to an outdated, unsupported version of Windows when they want to use graphics software. Each new version of such software offers more power and features. Each new version has its own OS and hardware requirements. That won't change even if users refuse to upgrade.
I went through a similar problem when I clung onto my beloved Mac computers for a decade. Then I got a new PC with Windows 10, and powerful hardware. I'm happy now.
I didn't switch to Windows 10 till summer 2020. It is completely understandable for someone to hold off updating. I say "Update" instead of "Upgrade" because that would imply it is better which is not always the case. I would still rather use 7 because of how intrusive and clunky 10 is. (still using 7 on laptop tho). Update also means saying goodbye to certain software, some of which is no longer being updated for new OS's, which is not the funnest thing to do. ...or the best if you've got ongoing projects that rely on those things. Look at how some animation studio still use Softimage. That was discontinued ages ago. Good software is good software. If it works, why trash it for something that doesn't work as well?
I think there are ways to preserve an old os, but im not hacky enough to know how and don't feel like spending the time and money on it.
I'm just saying don't give people a hard time if they don't want to update. There are valid reason.

That's basically what it comes down to for me. I don't have a problem with moving to win10, when I can afford to build a new pc. I've seen a number of articles and videos showing how to nerf its adware and spyware, so I'm not too concerned about that. But as it stands I have software that won't work in win10 and my current budget doesn't allow for building a new machine. I'm sure I'm not alone in that, especially considering an estimated 20% of windows users worldwide (ie hundreds of millions) are still on win7 with no intention of updating in the near future.
If you have problems with a particular software that refuses to run under Win10, try changing its compatibility under the icon Properties. In some cases that will get the app up and running. I have some old DAZ installers that refuse to run under Win10, by changing compatibility those installers now load content without any problems.
Just a little note, concerning the different versions of Python: actually, P12 is using the v3.7.9, and it will reach its official end of support at 2023-06-27. That's plenty of time, of course, but be aware that Python's last version is 3.9, which is definitely incompatible with Win7. Excerpt from the PYthon.org:
"This is the first version of Python to default to the 64-bit installer on Windows. The installer now also actively disallows installation on Windows 7. Python 3.9 is incompatible with this unsupported version of Windows."

I am running on win7pro sp1, on a new machine. the software works, but the included content download does not. (renderosity purchase downloads do though) can anyone else that is running win 7 service pack 1 tell me if they got the included content to work as a download through poser? or if they didnt? thanks. just want to know if this is a specifc win 7 issue, as i know at least one other win 7 user has the same problem.
I'm glad to know it will work on a W7 system. Yes, I still use 7 on a couple systems. It's stable and it does the job. I also have w-10 on a couple others. I'm happy with how everything works, so I'll keep it the way it is. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Unless Adobe kills your apps with the kill switch in Flash like they did to mine today. Buttmunchers. ?Anyway, I'll be grabbing P-12 when I have the spare $$. Thanx for the info.

Just so you know, there were a slew of reasons which prompted the Poser 12 refresh to remain with Python 3.7.9, rather than go for 3.8 or 3.9. Not least of which is it's the last version which has support for some legacy modules that Apple has not yet seen fit to purge from their OS releases, yet. For example, the macpath module, which deals with the old classic OS 9 style HFS paths: Drive:Folder:subfolder:filename with colon separators gets deprecated in Python 3.7, (yet remains usable) but actually removed from the Python 3.8 distribution. No big loss, you might say, but it is the original file path specification that Poser was built on, and poser files still contain as valid, cross-platform syntax. Worry about forward or backslashes? Ditch them and use colons in Poser. everyone in the same boat, and Poser resolves them when talking to the OS.
time.clock() goes away, as well as other bits and pieces that have been made use of in Python 2.7 scripts for ages.
Not only would the current struggle to get legacy Python2 scripts updated to Python3 be more of an issue than just syntax changes, but some algorithms would have to use different function calls in place of those which have been removed.
Verbosity: Profusely promulgating Graham's number epics of complete and utter verbiage by the metric monkey barrel.
P12 installs and runs fine on my win7 PC. No problems navigating or loading/manipulating content. But it crashes on render with basic settings. Anyone have any suggestions for why that would be? I've installed all windows updates available.
My cpu and graphics are all above min requirements listed. 970gtx (tho I don't use gpu rendering) and a phenom II x4 cpu, with 16gb ram.

The requirements say Windows 10. Is that accurate? It won't work in earlier OS versions?
If so, that makes it a non-buy for me.
