Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 20 6:12 am)
No. They are specific to the model. Morphs and texture mapping between V3 and V4 are completely different.

V4 will work any version of Poser you're likely to have. She'll work fine in Poser 5.
If you're really, really patient, DAZ puts her on sale for free from time to time. If you want her now, they're having a pretty good sale this weekend. Discounts on a lot of DAZ originals, and an additional 30% off applied after you put the item in the cart. Check out the various Victoria 4 bundles if you're interested. It's often cheaper that way, and you'll want her morphs and a texture or two.
V4 comes with a V4 to V3 figure (like V3 had a V3 to V2 figure). It's basically V4's head on V3's body, so you can use V3's clothing on it.
I think that just means they won't provide support for Poser versions earlier than P6.
I don't see any reason why V4 wouldn't work in Poser 5. When V4 came out, Poser 5 was only two or three years old. I remember people using her in Poser 4. I'm pretty sure she was actually designed for Poser 4. Her default textures don't take advantage of any of Poser 5's then-new shaders. Or didn't, back then.
I do recommend that you install her in a runtime that's not in Program Files. Poser 5 supports multiple runtimes, so you can put a runtime somewhere else. (Windows security doesn't like runtimes installed in Program Files, which was the default in the Poser 5 days.)
DAZ also has a money back guarantee, so if it doesn't work for some reason, you can get a refund.

V4 works fine in 4, 5, 6, 90 million, Eleventy thousand billion squillion and a half and so on. :D

Hey, a true artist never blames his tools... I have 4, 7, and 10 Pro... I like 7 for its rendering speed, 10 for its morphing tool and 4 I keep forgetting why I still have it...
The secret for awesome renders lies in the lighting... you probably already noticed there are like 62 lights around that sphere... so many you can barely see it
I still have some light sets from the days when "global" lighting was quite literal: it would put a sphere of lights around your figure. I even still use them from time to time.
Newer versions of Poser have other ways of achieving that. I must say, though, the Poser 4 method was a lot faster. And as realistic as Superfly skin is, I prefer the painted highlights of Poser 4-era hair. Somehow, hair designed for Superfly never looks as good.

She was, I was using V4 when I had P4. In fact, I didn't get P5.
I think the only possible issue is due to Windows, not V4 or Poser.
Poser 5 still had the runtime in the Poser folder, in Program Files. As I recall, that caused issues when you tried to run that .bat file to initialize V4's morphs, since newer versions of Windows have Program Files locked down like Fort Knox.
As long as V4 is installed in a runtime that's not in Program Files, it should be fine.

OK - Yes, I'm YEARS behind the vast majority here but TBH, I only rarely use my version of Poser 5 for the occasional piece of art. I have V3 and Aiko 3 installed, but there are a few characters for V4/A4 available.
My question - if I install them, will they work with my V3/A3 base figures?
V4 poses work fine with my older figures - even figures that aren't even Victoria. Here's hoping.
