Subject: What's Poser Tube?

ElZagna ( ) posted Thu, 07 May 2015 at 12:13 PM · edited Sat, 09 November 2024 at 5:22 AM

I recently came upon some sites offering "Poser tubes" for sale or free download (http://www.posertubes.com/, http://alessandra3dart.com/) They look great and all, but... what's a tube?

OS: Windows 10 64-bit, Poser: 10

http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/glossary/f/picturetubes.htm

"The Picture Tube is a tool in the Paint Shop Pro software which allows users to "paint" with a series of objects. As the user drags the Picture Tube "brush" across the document, the objects are sprayed onto the page. "

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Paint Shop Pro uses Tubes--they are a bit like a Photoshop brush, you can "paint" them into a scene. I'm not sure how that would apply to Poser or 3d art, however, unless you just used them as additions in your backgrounds, in a PSP scene.

I think the reference to Poser comes from the fact that Poser was used in the creation of the tubes in question.  Looking at the tubes there are certainly some of the tubes that use content that I clearly Poser.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

I always thing rubber stamps when tubes get mentioned.   There used to be tubes of lots of poses of the dragon, horses, and a few characters so you could just stick them in a scene.

Yep you guys got it.  There is community of people who mainly used Paintshop Pro which has a feature called tubes. 10 or 5 years ago Poser Tubes were really popular.  In short you can almost think of them like clipart that was created by using renders from Poser. The users would take the images and turn them into Paintshop Pro tubes.  If you have a website you can probably make a few dollars from selling Poser renders for use as Paintshop Pro tubes.

Hi

Does anyone know of any sites that offer posers/poser tubes as I'm doing PaintShop Pro lessons and need posers for my lessons.

Also does anyone know of any beginners lessons to make posers, I'd like to give this ago too.

Thanks in advance for anyone's help/reply!

Regards Julie

Paint Shop Pro has really faded, unfortunately. The PSP forum is dead...nothing but tumbleweeds. I haven't opened it in years myself.

Your best bet might be to try to contact ArtseyBon directly. She is a member here, and you can send her a sitemail through her profile page:

Sometimes a freebie is called a collection of tubes but the files are really pngs, so they can be used in Photoshop, Gimp etc.
