Hello All,

Now that flash no longer works, I'd like to export my Poser 10 libraries to both save them onto a backup hard drive, as well as upload them to my Poser 11. Any help with step by step instructions on how to do the export them import is greatly appreciated.

Hi Sean, without knowing what your OS is, I am giving you instructions for windows.

in order to make exact copies of my runtimes I use Free File Sync,

it is painless and copies all the files in the folder you specify.

The program notifies of any errors in copying.

you can also just tell Poser 11 where to look for our Poser 10 libraries without having to move everything!

How to add a runtime to poser

Click the folder with the plus sign and navigate to the folder the Runtime Folder is inside of.

Thanks Andy and Structure. I appreciate the help. Here's my problem. I've backed up my Poser 10 files about 8 months ago. I was poking around on Poser 11 and made a Runtime to those old Poser 10 files. To be honest I didn't like the libraries in Poser 11 and went back to using 10. Over the past 8 months I've uploaded more models to 10 that aren't in the backed up files. Now that 10 no longer works, I want to back up my current Poser 10 libraries and create a runtime to it. My problem is, I can't find where my libraries live on the c; drive. I've searched for "runtime", "libraries" and indivudal files. The correct library doesn't seem to show up. Help.

I'm at a loss at your use of terminology. Everything connected to your Libraries is in a runtime folder of one type or another that can be easily linked to any version of Poser. And that is the keyword, linked. You keep saying 'create a runtime' that implies to me that you are actually creating a new runtime folder. So that needs to be clarified further.

Where did you create your original runtime for Poser 10? Was it in a shared folder location or Program Files folder if you are using Windows? I can suggest a quick way to find a particular runtime folder, open P11 and navigate to your Library, selecting any particular runtime category. Hoover your cursor over a folder or file and you will get a popup that will show where that folder/file is located. It is the most convenient way to pinpoint content pathways.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I know I’m not explaining what I’d like to do very well. Let me try again.

I’m currently using Poser 11. I have created libraries to my old Poser 10 content. See picture 1. I followed your advice and hovered over the library to discover their file paths. See pictures 2 and 3. As you can see those folders are on my external hard drive. I have additional content in my Poser 10 that I’d like to transfer to the external folders in pictures 2 and 3. But for the life of me I can find those files on my c: drive. Does that help?

Sorry, the forum uploaded the pictures incorrectly. The first picture should be picture 2. The second picture is picture 1 and 3 is 3.

I would try using voidtools everything to find the content that you wish to move,

It is likely that your old library lives in the public folder, something I have found that does not always show up under windows searches.

However if you want to include the full library, do the following:

    1. Close poser
    2. Open a file explorer
    3. Go to c:\users\YOURUSERNAME\roaming\Poser Pro\10
    4. Copy LibraryPrefs.xml
    5. Go to c:\users\YOURUSERNAME\roaming\Poser Pro\11
    6. Rename LibraryPrefs.xml to something like LibraryPrefs.xml.bak
    7. Paste LibraryPrefs.xml
    8. Open Poser

Poser only recognizes and respects one runtime per folder. From what I am seeing, you are nesting a runtime within a runtime, that's a big no-no. This is how I handle subjects and runtime:

You should have a primary folder that is not named runtime and then the runtime folder within it as illustrated above. As stated, Poser respects only one runtime per folder and doesn't do well with nested runtimes.
