The issue I have is the majority of those items are simply shaders for textures/skin sold separately. In order to actually use the on sale shaders you have to have the not cheap or on sale textures/skins. I can build my own shaders if I have the textures. And at this point I doubt you'll find a beginner carraraest. Now, as far as I know DAZ content stopped being compatible with carrara quite some time back; with the release of G3 many new DUFs wont open in carrara. Same with Poser. Carrara stopped being compatible at P8 I believe.
The real kicker is DAZ is still selling the clothing control for the defunct Optitex dynamic clothing. Surprised DAZ isn't still selling the optitex dynamic clothing... oh wait DAZ is.
The best thing for cararra and us is for DAZ to sell it to a group that would do something with ti. But that would be too much like handing an enemy a weapon. With out ever thinking if that weapon uses the ammo they make they are still making a profit off it. Carrara never was a competitor with Studio for content; no cararra never used DAZ content better then Studio, right lol But DAZ never really quite got the more apps that are compatible with Studio content the more customers you have; till very lately.
I have been lucky enough to get new DUF items to load in Carrara. Maybe some don't, but I haven't had that problem yet. Knock on wood.
Luckily, being so compatible with Poser helps extend the life of Carrara. So many great items STILL coming out for Poser have worked in Carrara. Again, knock on wood.
They have all these bridges for a ton of other software, why no bridge for Cararra? That should have been the EASIEST to make.
I have turned a few people onto Carrara for animation. It just can't be beat for ease of use.
I don't know who would be interested in buying the rights to the software. Maybe of they saw how powerful it is. I don't know.
Depends what it is. I have no issues with props and buildings. But G3 or clothes for G3 is an insta crash for me. My grudge for DAZ would be a bit less intense if DAZ had just kept carrara up to date with DAZ content. Maybe fix what they broke too.
Some one needs to tell DAZ you can only invent the wheel once, after that you are just putting new tread on an old tire.
i wish the pa would bring their stores to renderosity.
i see a few familiar names here now.
i just don't feel the addiction to made for daz studio content.
Vyusur brought her newest original human figure to renderosity. and they work with a simple convert rigging. no typos in internal names to crash carrara.
i just bought the poser 11. would be real kewl if there was a poser python script to save la femme and la homme to a carrara version. would dump those g8 tacos in a new york minute. it does export collada, but i would want all the jcms and limits intact.

I use Genesis and Genesis 2 in Carrara all the time. I use Misty's Genesis 3 Carrara characters in Carrara every once in a while. I use Misty's genesis 8 Carrara characters in Carrara if I don't plan on using any shaping morphs. I use VYusur's new independent figures in Carrara after converting to blended weight. Other props and figures generally work well in Carrara unless they have geografts or instancing. Thank you Misty.
Well that hair was a waste of money. There is nothing there. 2 hours nothing loads, drag and drop on a skull cap, everything I can think of, nothing works. The dynamic hair that comes with cararra load fine, but the ones I just bought from DAZ will not load anything.
But this is typical DAZ for me, Ive always ended up returning every 3rd or 4th item because they were broke, wont load, or wont load right, ect. Just have to wonder how much of DAZ's profit is handed to them by timid people that wont ask for a refund, and blame themselves fro DAZ content not working.
Before you start DAZ still sells the dynamic clothing control for the defunked; no longer work in studio, Optitex clothes. Hell DAZ still sells the clothes that haven't worked in Studio for years.

Sorry to hear that Stan. I wonder how much of their profit comes from people who buy things that won't be used right away but much later.
I have things I bought YEARS ago that I have yet to load even once. A little scared now...
Which Carrara hairs are not working? I have quite a few, and they all work. However, some require a specific figure (were grown on V4 instead of a cap, for example). There is at least one that does not have show in 3d view checked when it loads. So, if we know which hairs you are referring to, may be able to help. Maybe.

I wrote the letter below and posted in the "other" Carrara forum. I know some of you don't go over there, so I'm posting it here too. If you could lend your support, that would be nice.
======================================= Dear Daz
Please refrain from removing anymore Carrara items from the marketplace (aka putting them in the "vault").
I know when there have been removals before, some of us take issue with the foul deed and others (inexplicably) cheer it on. Cararra should be looked at in an entirely different way.
Carrara is a wonderful piece of software with a loyal base. We want to grow that base. While yes, it is true that Carrara can utilise products made for Daz Studio & Poser, it is very nice to have items made specifically FOR Carrara.
When a prospective buyer evaluates a piece of software, he looks at what is available for it, what it does, and so forth. Having a decent sized catalogue can be a deciding factor. Unfortunately, Carrara's catalogue is shrinking!
It is bad enough that we have lost a good many items to the "vault" in February, but I noticed excellent products like Walden Park, Venice, Orange Street, and all of Holyforest's shaders are no longer in the store. Now, I have all of these, but I want them available for new users to be able to enjoy & help us grow.
I do applaud Daz for at least letting people know about items they are taking out of the marketplace and offering them at a price that will allow people to pick them up without too much strain. I strongly urge you to cease shrinking our catalogue and hurting future potential sales.
